Hi, so it seems I never did fix the rough idle on my 2012 pro rmk after rebuild. Description of symptoms: Starts great, first pull. Idle sounds a bit low and at times seems rough. The gauges dont light up either. When I give it gas it gets rougher and instantly dies. I rebuilt the motor and prior to rebuild it ran good. I'm sure everything is mechanically sound. Ive rechecked all the connections for broken pins or lose wires (visually). Ive changed the spark plugs and put on new spark plug caps. Fuel lines are connected properly. Whats the next step? buying a new harness?

Have you checked the TPS calibration?

one of the many posts on how to check, you can google the videos and numerous methods of checking and even making your own tool. These sleds are known for needing the TPS set from time to time

Have you checked your fuel lines? They are made of a harder plastic, and when you pulled fuel lines to do the engine rebuild, you might have kinked them while trying to get access. Have a close look at your lines.
You also would have had your throttle bodies out. Maybe you bumped it, and put a slight twist in them, making them not in sync. While you have them them out, make sure the pins that hold the flaps are tight. I've had to replace a set of throttle bodies because the pins were a bit loose, and I couldn't set the tps. My idle was low, and it didn't run great.
Maybe a fuel regulator is needed, check fuel pressure. If you think your wiring is good, and you already double checked it, you could ohm out the harness, looking for resistance in the harness. Maybe double check your timing marks on the stator, if you didn't put them back exactly where they came from, the mag pickups can do weird things as well. Lots to check, be thorough.

is this something that couldve gone out of position during rebuild? I never touched it but will check it any way. Just dont want to mess with any systems I havent touched and create new problems.

I'm not sure how deep you went on the rebuild. If you had the stator off, it's possible. If it was just a quick top end, odds are its fine, because you wouldn't have touched it. Even the throttle bodies, depends on how deep you went. I would start at fuel lines.

TPS can be out for no apparent reasons. Brand new sleds when checked have been out. It is a very simple system.

Absolutely first thing you do should be a TPS calibration.
