Monsanto is terrifying.
Did you read any of the tinfoil hat comments below that article? Hilarious.
It seems odd that whenever you listen to anyone from the beekeepers associations, they're blaming the drop in population on a disease. I think I'll believe them over a bunch of whackjobs that are running out of material to rail against.
that has been the governments position not from the beekeepers. Because I rely hugely on the agri business I made a call to a large honey bee supplier here in the Okanagan and in California and they both firmly believe the problem is with the chemicals not the disease. But what do a bunch of whackjobs know??
Says the guy linking to topinfopost.com.... Those types of sites just scream credibility.
Snopes views the article as "FALSE"
Lots of BS on the internet....
snopes.com: Russia Warns Obama: Monsanto
I'm not in favor of what Monsanto, Syngenta and others are doing. Just saying the story listed about Russia is most likely not factful....
Illegal GM Wheat Contamination Discovered in US: Contamination Status in Canada is Unknown
Wednesday May 29. Ottawa. – Today, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed that Monsanto’s unapproved genetically modified (GM, also called genetically engineered) herbicide tolerant wheat was found growing in a farmer’s field in the state of Oregon (1).
The USDA has not identified the source of contamination and does not know how widespread the contamination is. No contamination has been discovered in Canada.
This is just an fresh example on how Monsanto is above the law, or atleast thinks it is above the law, even though a current bill which has been signed by President of the US will put them above the law if it gets passed the senate :“The provision would strip federal courts of the authority to halt the sale and planting of an illegal, potentially hazardous GE crop while the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) assesses those potential hazards,” dozens of farmers wrote the House of Representatives before the bill was passed in March. “Further, it would compel USDA to allow continued planting of that same crop upon request, even if in the course of its assessment the Department finds that it poses previously unrecognized risks.”
What gives a company this much power? Why? They can now maybe able to contaminate, pollute, create market issues, without any recourse.
The GE wheat is a huge problem, no markets are wanting or ready for it, and once the seeds have been found, its contamination level is far worse than will be reported due to the level they test too.
I have been in a battle with Monsanto and Forage genetics International for over 4 years on the introduction of Round up Ready alfalfa (RRA) into Canada. IF this product is release for sale in Canada it is only a matter of time before it cross pollinates with our feral alfalfa, and conventional alfalfa. Current export markets of alfalfa seed into GE sensitive zones are in excess of 55 million dollars to Canadian producers. We as an exporting country need to protect our market access, and having more GE crops which are unapproved events in our customers countries, limits our marketing, price etc. IF we can produce non GE contaminated crops our producers will be receiving a premium price for their seed due to the contamination issues the US companies have. (Very few companies in the US can supply a GE FREE alfalfa seed) giving Canadian producers the edge. However the very , very few which may use this useless product (WHO HAS A DIRTY HAY FIELD? WHAT PRODUCER IS GOING TO PAY$123.00 EXTRA FOR RRA?) Are putting at risk our entire exports of forage and turf seeds.
Bees: Many countries around the world have recognized that the seed treatments and more so the neonicotinoids have contributed to the death of bees. Many have taken steps for an out right ban to limited use to more in-depth studies required. BUT in North America, we say , no problems, the manufactures say it's ok, and the governments buy it. Let us understand that all of the studies are conduct by the companies, and are in most cases 90 day studies, nothing further. This is a huge issue and any whack-jobs who are in doubt, need to realize that we need to take better care, do independent studies and NOT bow down theword of monsanto. WE have only have GE crops for less than 12 years in our food chain, It wont be us but it will be our children and grand children who will show the results of the effects on humans.
I am not a TREE HUGGER, but I am very concerned over the lack of studies on GE crops, the effects on humans, and the effects to the plant. We all know if you insert a gene into a string of genes it displaces the chain, if the chain has displacement, the plant will react differently, it is no longer the same plant. It may produce seed but the actions of the plant are different. And even more concerned over the lack of concern for our markets we service. LET US NOT FORGET TRIFFID FLAX and the millions of dollars Canadian producers lost, and are still losing.
No Keyboard hero, here I am:
Kurt Shmon
Tks for the info Kurt! And I agree with your comments. But then again maybe we are whack-jobs and dont know anything
I guess it's too late because you've already got your panties in a knot, but I wasn't calling YOU a whack-job. Just the people that believe everything they read on some fringe website. Just read the comment section for verification of that.
As far as GMOs go, no I don't believe everything we're fed from the Monsantos, Bayers and Pioneers of the world, but I personally don't subscribe to the doomsday prophecies either. The truth is somewhere in the middle. I make my living in the ag business too, so I've got more than enough skin in the game.

We are ALL involved in the Ag business......we eat the food they grow (the farmers) and we want to be healthy and raise a healthy family. We need some "non-Monsanto" scientists to tell us the TRUTH!
Perhaps the Monsanto and affiliates info is correct but nobody trusts their judgement anymore.......
Wheat futures fell 0.5 percent to $6.99 a bushel by 4:58 a.m. on the Chicago Board of Trade. suspended imports of western-white wheat and feed wheat from the U.S., and canceled an order, said Hiromi Iwahama, director for grain trade and operation at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The European Union will recommend countries test imported U.S. wheat.
