Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
TFW program cancelled to make jobs for Albertans.

Will we see the oilfield workers in the fields? Picking blueberries with a turban on? Picking lettuce? Picking cherries? Picking grapes?

Just think of all the $5/hr jobs available. Berta is saved!

It’s a good idea if it works. They’s also promising billions in infrastructure spending. Most of it is dedicated to Edmonton pot holes.

I'm all for the pothole repairs...I've never seen Alberta roads is such shape you would think we were in Saskatchewan ffs. And yes as a pipeliner I can't see myself picking berries to pay for my mortgage. Good for the younger generation but pretty hard to support a family on peanuts especially getting taxed to death!

With all the exceptions this will amount to 13 new jobs. Kenny is just another politician. Prove me wrong.

Same people always bitching about TFW's are the same ones that wouldn't be caught dead taking a job at Tim Hortons or cleaning rooms at the Super 8.

Agreed. Today in the bank there was a Filipino (I think) careworker escorting a mentally disabled gentlemen in so he could do his banking. I have a great deal of respect for anyone that can do that job day after day.

My argument though has always been if we are going to bring TFW's in why don't we allow them to become citizens? They are obviously hardworking enough to move halfway around the world to come here to do a job most of us turn our noses up at. Why not have them permanently reside here and spend their earnings here instead of bringing it home with them when their work term is done? After all most of us are here in Canada because our ancestors had the same ambitions and work ethics.

Screw that.....I agree that the vast majority of Filipino health care workers are good People, but other industries that use TFW’s aren’t so inclined to be So friendly and willing to respect Canadian society. The predominantly African meat packing workers come to mind....keeping the ability to toss any foreigners out should their behaviour and attitude require it is a powerful tool that keeps them on the straight and narrow....

Yea I agree there is many that contribute more to Canada then people born here, and many have better work ethics. It would also stop employers from being able to take advantage of them, but would need to balance to where they can't just use it as a quick way to get citizenship and be a drain on the country.

As long as any employer tries to hire people in the country first, I see no problem bringing in people out of country for any job in any numbers. The whole "taking our jobs" is BS 99% of the time. There is always plenty of minimum wage jobs around no matter what, people just don't want them.

Some of the hardest working people in this country are not from Canada.

It's sad. So many of today's youths are "entitled" so to say.

Maybe it's a good thing, for Alberta's fight to get jobs... probably not.

Unfortunately, we, us canuckleheads are lazy.

Agriculture is exempt but I am 100% certain that we would starve if not for the TFW.

Unless we started a diet of 100% wheat and canola.

Totally. The orchardists and berry farmers in the Okanagan are having a hell of a time getting their fruit off this year. I would imagine it's only a short time until we need TFW's to plant tress as well.
