Anyone have any experience or comments on the power bloc 80 clutch? I am on the brink of buying one given the cost is so little.

So just got my PB80 clutch order. Hopefully it comes before this weekend so i can get a ride with it on. Be interesting to see how well it works with a modded XP. Everything i have read on the net looks promising so far.

So finally got the clutch. Without ring gear it weighs in at 9lbs 9 oz. With ring gear it weighs in at 11lbs 4oz. I think the race TRA are weighing in at 11lbs with the standrd TRA in at just over 14lbs. SHould have it mounted tonight for a test in the alley run:d

So first run on the pn80 clutch. Thus clutch is the real deal and it works. Just want to say I ordered a pre calibrated 800 version, which is setup for a 800 136" at sea level. I just ran it like that. So bottom end was ok, but it was a bad calibration. Engagement was too low for my ride or style. Anyone who buys one, just get a spring to start and pull weight out. Top end wise... Wow pulls WAY better than the tra. As well does not loose rpm. From gorman lake(7000ft) to park boundary(8500ft) lost 100rpm. Decent imo. It builds a loose Rpm quicker, probably from the 3lbs weight loose. Response is definitely there. Track speeds with the bad tube were already up 3mph. Cons.... Belt runs hot, most like due to the bad tune and there is just less clutch for cooling. Belt didn't show any wear though, started off with a new dayco xtx belt. As well it didn't seem to effect performance, ie run for a while and cold runs. Oh should mention... Much quieter and smooth

Sled it wad pn was a 180hp big bore setup with 3" track.

So just got back from a hellashish 4 days of riding. Tuned this clutch better... WOW!!! i dont know if my old TRA was that bad or this one works that good but way better. Still running the stock spring that come with it and pulled 2 disks out of each, so a total of 6 disks. As well i am 4 turns out on my shockwave helix. This thing pulls like a frieght train now. RPMs mayby drop 100rpm between 4000ft and 7500 ft. clutches are now way cooler than before as well the belt. Engagement is now up to 3500rpm with a slow intialation on throttle and a quick blip it is 4000rpm engagement. Just rolling down the trail my rpms are down 1000. Way more smoother than the TRA. With my motor and a 3" track i can now spin it like i did my old "holey" 2.25 track and thats with a 23/49 gearing.

anyone looking to rebuild a TRA i would highly recommend this clutch. It is so simple to tune, Hell to change weigh it doesnt even require you to pull it. Pull the clutch bolt, undo the nut and bang the sliding sheeve comes off. Got a difrent spring coming in and going to give it a try for the next couple of rides.

Very interesting thanks. I wonder with it being that much lighter if there's any concern with engine longevity? I thought the mass of the primary clutch helped dampen the motor vibs but I could be totally off. What was the cost?

Can't see longevity issues as it is the same weight as the race tras for half the cost. Clutch plus puller was under 500 at my door

hah yea found the old thread.

no havent tried it on the turbo sled yet, ran it all last season on the big bore without a issue. Pros it runs way smoother, lower engagement, smooth linear power, less belt heat, quicker throttle response, little to no rpm fade when gaining elevation and alot less belt dust than my TRA. Mantenancie wise it is much easier to work on, as you would expect with alot less moving parts. You dont even need to pull the belt, spin the nut of and the cup come out with the outter sheeve. Didnt really have any complaints at all with this clutch. Picked mine up for $500 at my door inclding puller from CV tech.
