Not as much of a rant. More of a shock to me.

Long story short, I was waiting in line at the Shell in Valemount to buy some batteries for my Beacon.
The two gentlemen in front of me were renting beacons.

How are places still allowed to rent out the dial style SOS beacons?
I brought up my concerns with these beacons to these guys in front of the lady that was working there. A whole lot of blank stares like deer caught in the head lights.

These guys are doing the right thing buy renting gear they dont have. But they are unknowingly renting garbage.

Not only that but later I got to thinking these boys may not be riding in a group. Did they even really know how to use these? They did take the instructions so my guess is a big no.
