Am I missing something where is the feedstock line for this refinery ??? What happened to Petro Canadas refinery in the Vancover area which would make more sense as they have the Kinder Morgan line there .

They won't be using pipeline...The refinery would also be supplied by rail cars with cooled bitumen which the company has branded as “neatbit”, a peanut butter-like product that does not require a diluent as it would in a pipeline.

Refinery would have 223,000 barrel a day capacity supplied by rail cars that hold 700 barrels each? Wow that sounds way safer than a pipe.

Amazing isn't it?? All the greenies and Indians can't condemn pipelines fast enough yet don't say sh!t about shipping oil by rail. 10,000 Hp worth of locomotives belching black smoke to haul each train and nothing is said, let alone the environmental and safety concerns (lac megantic ring a bell?).
The reason nobody says anything ( including Trudeau, wynne, Christy Clarke, the Indians etc) is because is because the railway act takes precedence over all other jurisdictions' laws. Within the rail right of ways they are responsible only to themselves, it's written deliberately that way in federal law so that they don't have to comply with multiples of different regulations as they cross the country.
Nobody wants to open that can of worms so everyone turns a blind eye. CP rail can run a string of full propane tank cars right through downtown Calgary anytime they want, yet a trucker cannot go anywhere off of a dangerous goods route without a permit and strict restrictions as to quantity. Scary!!

That's because they like trains because they are electric powered motors, so they are nice and clean! But what they are to stupid to figure out is that diesel burning generators are making the electricity for those motors!

The product relatively speaking is safe/safer because it's not diluted. Even if a rail car or whatever was to spill it is so thick it wouldn't flow. The raw bitumen carries little classification I do believe. Is it actually safer? I dunno but it could pave the way for future growth. The west definitely needs more refinery.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if something like this was built in Houston. Rail service is already there and there is going to be a empty lot where the west Fraser mill was.

No way in hell the tides foundation, greenpeace, Justin Trudeau, all the Indians etc are EVER gonna let a refinery be built in B.C. The only thing that will ever get approval will be a factory that builds windmill powered electric cars shaped like teepees that to start, require you to pose for a selfie while you grin like an idiot.

Pretty much, we tend to fiddlefawk around in Canada until it's not worth doing what we should have done 10yrs ago

Case in point: Vaughn Palmer: LNG terminal built on time and ready to roll (just not here)

GLOBAL LNG-Prices sink on Argentina tender result and new supply | Reuters

Price is collapsing making investment uncertain.

The tailing pond dam break in Brazil is an example of what could happen with a pipe line running through BC.

Here is something to think about, if there was a pipeline in my area of BC and a leak happened to get into the columbia river it would pollute from Canal Flats north to Revy and south to Oregon....

Why not build a refinery in Hardisty Alberta, major oil storage there.

I agree about building another refinery here in Ab or expanding on the ones that exist such as Bowden.

Your pipeline arguement holds little value though. Every train runs beside every river in BC. Derailment is way more likely than a pipeline rupture.

People do realize the product flows inside of the pipe and not outside of it I think. Wait, forget it.
