Although I agree with you. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It will help a struggling family out to get a bit more money. But I also agree with the other replies to your comment. I think it’s another way for the libs to squeeze more money out of tax payers

It creates more automation which in turn cancels minimum wage jobs. Just look at how self-checkouts are becoming a mainstream thing now in every store and fast food place. The higher minimum wage goes the more you will see that everywhere. The result? More people sucking on the government tit, AKA taxpayer wallets

I asked the same question and had a friend explain it to me like this...

You have 3 employees 1 at 12/hr, 1 at 16/hr and 1 at 18/hr

Min wage get's bumped up to 15/hr
Employee 1 goes woo hooo!!! I just got a 3 dollar raise for doing nothing
Employee 2 is pissed, because now #1 is making almost the same after only 6 months. So employee 2 gets moved up to 18/hr
Employee 3 has the same complaints as #2, so is bumped up to 20/hr
And now everyone is happy, including you....... until you realize that your profit margin just got tanked, because of the amount of wages you now have to put out!!
Or you just give 2&3 a little raise, they get pissed off and quit. And close to doors because you can't afford to hire anyone
Can you raise your prices to offset your wages, without losing customers???

A LOT of Mom and Pop company's in Alberta had to fold, because of what the NDP did here.
