They help a bit with definition but aren't magically going to fix flat light conditions. Available from most goggle manufacturers the ones I have my eye on are Oakley with the prizm lens. I wear polarized habervisions now.

who makes them other than 509 and do they work very good in flat light conditions???
Zeal makes a photochromatic polarized goggle that works great in all light conditions and doesn't fog, but it's hard on the wallet. Still the best goggle out there if cost is no object. My 2nd favorite these days is the Oakley Airbrake Snow with Rose Prizim lens for flat light, a bit cheaper and I haven't had issues with fogging, either. 3rd favorite is the Smith i/o with rose lenses. I have about 20 pair of various goggles that I've tried, everything from 509's, Scott's, Utopia, Spy, etc. (You get the idea, and the only three models that have made the cut are the Zeals, Oakley w/ Prizim, and the Smith i/o's - the rest were pretty much junk).

I have to agree with both posts above. Buddy let me use his Oakley Flight Deck with Rose Prizm and…..wow. It's amazing how much things have improved in the goggle world since my last pair of old yellow Smiths. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I will try the I/Os before I make my mind up tho.

Had light sensitive Progrips for the last 5 years. Didn't find they helped in flat light but were nice with the sun or high cloud. For the price I thought they were a good goggle Have the 509 photochromatic now and only difference I have seen the 509's are more money.
I have enjoyed the photochromatic lenses overall.

I've been wearing Oakley Prizm's this season. Up until now, my low lights have been Polarized yellow Klim, and 509. The Klim were pretty good, but these Oakleys are awesome.

There red. The mirrored ones arn't quite as bright, so I stick with the non mirrored. They are very good for fog resistance as well, and the lenses are super easy to change. I have a Fly F@, and they fit very good inside of it as well.

I would recommend them to anyone, but they are pricey.

I recently rode a couple days in really poor conditions (cloudy/foggy & snowing off & on) recovering some buried sleds in Renshaw - tried out new polarized yellow goggles and found non polarized yellow ones worked substantially better. Polarized set are slightly more tinted designed for brighter days with flat light I believe. Both 509's tho.

I have 509 polarized dark tint for sunny days and tried the polarized yellow for flat light. I was not happy with that. They are darker than the regular yellow. I just bought the rose (non-polarized) lens for this year, and so far it's been the best for me.

I have been using a set of dragon with a yellow polarized lens and electric with a dark lens. This last trip i Bought the Oakley Air brake With the Prizm Jade lens and the Prizm Rose lens. never fogged once and will probably not even bring my old goggles. as the Airbrakes take 15 seconds to change lenses and are far superior from what i have seen of any other goggle. I have tried a lot as i work in a Ski shop. for sure a little more expensive but well worth it. just go to your local shop and ask if you can take a pair out to the parking lot snowbank and see how major of a difference they make.

I'm trying to decide between the jade and the rose lens, which works better in low light?

For sure the rose is there low light. And the jade is there all day lense. It was a little over cast and the jade was still good. But on the trail home when the sun was on the way down the rose had to go in. If it was any darker during the day I would have put the rose in.

Doesn't look like 'Quick Staps' will work on the Oakley?????

They will work, you have to cut the strap on your Oakley and thread them through the quick strap adjusters...I'm not gunna lie, I was pretty nervous making that cut to the strap of these $$$ Oakley goggles, but it did work out good.

Right on! I have cut many of the 509's and fished the Quick Straps thru. Just be patient and think it thru before you cut.

I am saving a few sheckles for the Oakleys...................read a lot of positive reviews on the them.
