Wowzers is the market screwed. Some poor guys trying to sell used sleds more than new ones from the dealer.

Some dealers clearing out new 14s for 9750-9999$...

Whats a mint condition 14 with 600km worth now?

It's not just Polaris, i've been watching closely also and it's all brands. A few dealers still holding 13 & 14's!! Some used prices reasonable some not! Who knows, maybe some of these guys still making payments and still owe a lot!

And its funny how many people get offened when they are trying to sell a used sled for 9800 bucks with 600 km and you say you can buy a new one for nearly that so whats the bottom dollar... prices i figure will drop a bit more yet!

not just used realistic prices, new realistic prices as well. we pay around 15 grand in a 10 grand market, why because we have money and easy credit.

Exactly. Sled manufacturers are very good at marketing next years sled as the greatest and best of all time so you can expect to take a hit on last years "old" sled.

I just priced out a 2015 Summit SP, 800Etec 154", pull start, $12900 out the door, from an around Edmonton dealer.

So if you paid $13000 and your sled is a year old with 600 kms knock $3500 off that's $9500 for a good used sled (seems fair), but the dealer is selling this years model for $500 more than your used...... That's what kills the used market.
Then there's the poor dude that added $2500 worth of extras.... Now what's his sled worth?
I guess that's what were up against when we buy new....we all know it, but it hurts when it hits the ol' wallet.

It's also supply and demand, if dealers order in extra sleds expecting to sell them, ordering in extra snow checks and they don't sell then they are going to blow them out at the end of the season, I have been very fortunate like many others that sell sleds one or two years old and only take a couple thousand dollar hit, typically on a 2 year old sled you should expect to take at least 3 thousand dollar hit. When times are good you win when times are not it costs you a little more. Lots play into it. Sucks when your on the ****ty end of the deal

I don't think many dealers will be selling brand new Terrain dominators for 10g otd

No you're probably right, but we definetly pay more and a deflating dollar doesn't help!

Too much supply and low demand = low prices, Too much demand and no supply = High prices.
Ask me how many 20-30g Nytro's are for sale that are selling for less than 10g's, ya don't think that passes a guy off!!
Supply and demand. Way too many sleds on the market. If sales dropped for a year or three you would see a significant decrease in supply and higher prices. Just the way it is!

I didn't pay $13000 for my sled this year. I paid out the door under $12000 for a hold over. If I were to list it right now, knocking off the $2500, and another $1000 as its a year old and I am looking for $8500. I don't believe that is unreasonable for a one year old sled that will have 2 years of warranty remaining. Everything is negotiable. I would expect if I wanted to upgrade to a new sled every season it would cost $2500 give or take a few bucks.

But, yes, there are the guys who paid $13000+. They did so to be the guy with the newest and greatest. I only had to buy a holdover and still have the greatest (its a joke doo guys, settle down). Extras are extras. No extra is worth retail price. Take them off and sell them at %50. Or add them in as an after sale. Extras rarely add value to a sled.

Why is it more dire? That is the gamble someone takes if they are extending themselves to purchase toys.

Believe me I am not perfect in saying that. I do not work in a recession proof industry but I am not working in an environment dependent on resources. There would need to be extreme changes to the entire country for me to have a concern, but my job is a regulatory mandated position. I am comfortable not earning six figures as I will still be earning an income adequate for my lifestyle.

There will always be people who over value something they own. They either invested too much into something and need to make a decent return on their investment to justify the initial cost, or they feel the market will support the price they are asking. Look at 06-07.5 LBZ Duramax's. A quick look on kijiji at prices in AB average at $27000-28000! Those trucks have been listed for that price since 2008. People still are willing to pay $28000 for a truck that is almost 10 years old to have one that offers some conveniences for tuning. Maybe not a fair comparison but there is a market for them.
