The used market isn't in the tank. Dealers sell lots of used sleds. They know that most guys can't afford to trade off a sled they still owe money on, and most of those same people HAVE to have the newest ****. So, low ball them, tack on what's left to the new loan, and viola...

Now the dealer can can sell the used sled for what ever they want, because some can't finance a brand new one, but they can a 1 or 2 year old on. And me, I can't finance people, so if I want to sell my stuff, I need to 'give it away' to someone like me, who has cash and would rather have a good deal, then the newest bests sled first.

There is always a demand for new stuff, and always a supply of people to go into debt for it. Our economy stopped growing, and started exploding when borrowing money for toys became more popular then online dating.

if someone is selling a 14 sled for more than a new one at the dealer i would take my cash to the dealer and buy 0 km with warranty first. i think thats whats happening right now as some pointed out every new model year.

and this time it may or may not be a little worse with a slowed economy.

I just picked up a 2015 standard RMK155 800 for 9100, $9555 OTD. Pros were $10000 (10,500 OTD) This is in Northern AB.

Do the canadian dealers sell to americans? You could get that standard for $7600 american OTD

I really wanted the standard for the front tunnel cooler and there are very few for sale (used PRO's seem to be cheaper / more of them) . The one i found was a 2012 with 900 miles and was $8500. Thought that was a good deal a month ago...

I asked the dealer how he was making any money... And he responded that he is losing about $1000. I asked what markup was and he said 10% (obviously there are good rebates from polaris right now). He said no snow and the new model release is the reason to sell below cost. He would start paying interest soon so why not dump them and take a hit. Guess if you sell 3 below cost, 3 sleds sold for retail cover the loss, and if you sell 20+ your still doing ok.

I can see why people sell so high used... Been in that boat before. You finance the whole cost of the sled including tax and accessories and it ends up being $14-16000. Even if you put $1000 down, by march you havn't even put a dent in the loan and your taking a hit at $11000.

If I had the money I would likely deal with the closest dealer and buy new every year or 2 because having the support would be nice. Blow a motor sunday and have a sled back thursday would be sweet. But for $5k difference I can keep mine going myself and source things online. Just takes time if you have a motor job to shop around and get it done for a reasonable price

With a little less snow this way, I think dealers are a little more desperate. Uncle quoted a Standard 14 Pro 155 this week for $8500. Doubt it includes PDI, etc, but he was thinking long and hard about replacing the Nytro with that at that price...

IMO there isn't enough incentives these days to bother snow checking. Especially when 4 months later an almost identical to a snow check sled can be bought for a couple grand less.

ya but then you miss half the season, if that's not important then it pays to wait

This gets me excited about my new sled purchaces, upgrading mine and the wifes this spring when people are even a little more eager to sell there fianced sleds. Sure glad I don't rely on oil for a pay cheque.

Not sure how you miss half a season. Most snow checks show up the same time as the stock ordered sleds do. My XM showed up end of october and there were already SP's on the showroom floor.

Not that any of this makes a HUGE difference... Just keep in mind... when there is a price on the internet.... It ALWAYS has + + +.... There is always going to be freight and PDI and what have you.... I dont think the ecenomy has as much to do with it as a chassis change for polaris.... It happened when the XM came out as well.... WHY is a dealer going to be wanting pay interest on a pile of inventory of NON current sleds for a whole year... Then when winter comes... Everybody is going to be buying the new chassis! Its sort of hard for them to use all thier selling featuers on "here is why its better than the old chassis and here is why you should upgrade" if there is still a whole PILE of the old chassis sleds sitting around.

Price point. You have Rangers and F-350's on the same lot. Both sell and a salesman is coached by the dealer to understand the customer first. Might be the difference, small time and big time.

I think most know about the extra money added to a new deal. But when new is 2g less than a used. Go new

A huge thing that I missed is warranty. These dirt cheap new sleds are coming with 1 year warranty, while some of these used ones have 3-4 years of warranty on them.

I agree. I'm guessing Cat is doing the same thing. Polaris and Cat are the only ones that seem to be hell bent on getting **** cleared out. Doo and Hamaya don't seem to be in as big of rush, and they both had new stuff last/this year.

Ya that would be a sport, sp is like 12,200 but I'm sure PDI is still on top of that. People are trying to sell 13 xm's for 12500 still...
