Reliabilty is excellent, the older ones are hard on brakes and front ends. Other than that, well worth every penny

Neighbour kid had a scrambler 850. He beat that thing like it owed him money ever time he drove it. It did break but not the machines problem. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one.

I had a 850 quad.

Was really good. Ran 30 inch zillas.

Put a 2 inch lift kit in. Big mistake. Screws up handling really bad.

Great machine. Yes the usual brakes tie rods ball joints. I think I had 6000 km on mine.

Polaris has the true 4 wheel drive also. All four wheels lock up. Lots of other quads only have 3. Nothing to be affraid of when considering a polaris QUAD

Pretty sure they still have "on demand" 4-wheel drive. Guess it depends where you drive, but that is a terrible feature. Rear wheels need to spin to engage the front wheels??? Try and do a down hill decent in snow without having the ability to spin the front wheels. you can't turn. Dumb.

Before buying us a pair of new Sportsman 850 quads, how reliable are they?
I didn't see this thread. We've had a bunch of them. The weak point is the fuel pump, but there's a real good aftermarket one we found. Can't think of the name of it right now. When you change the oil, don't ever start them with the dipstick not screwed in. We have one that has over 14000 Miles on it, runs great. Most expensive repair to it was that stator. Was some hit and miss frame problems on some of the older ones.
