Thinking of buying the Mrs a 600 rmk 144. I havent found any issues, so I thought I would post in the wise polaris section for some in sight.

My brother in law just bought his wife a 2013 600 pro rmk 144. What an awesome machine. You will not be dissapointed at all.

Mtn riding. But its not for me. Its for the Mrs. She is coming off a phazer and time to upgrade. Not an aggressive rider. Yamaha doesnt offer anything that would work for her. This is my next step and I am out of touch with their products.

My wife rides a 2013 Pro RMK 600 with a 155. Personally, the rear suspension is a bunch better on the 155 (coil over) then the 144, and the sled is very light and nimble. The 600 has enough power to get the job done, isn't intimidating in the delivery (very smooth powerband). The extra track length over a 144 isn't very noticeable except on deep days, where the 144 has to be WOT more often then the 155.
I personally wouldn't own a Polaris, unless it was the 600, as it has a great track record for reliability vs. the 800. If you need more power later, put a 660 kit on it from Carl's Cycle.

X2 on the length. I went from a 600 144" to a 600 155" and with the longer track I could sure slow down and think a bit more. The 144" was wide open almost all the time. My wife having ridden both prefers the 155" too and will probably inherit it next year. The clean fire 600 is a stellar motor in my opinion. I wouldn't buy any other 600 either. 800 is a different story though!

Not sure what year of Phazer but aren't they around 80 hp.
First thing, the 600 has plenty of smooth reliable power, so no worries there. About 50% more than the phazer.
I guess it all depends on where you plan to ride. Mountains have lots of trails and if you're not breaking trail all day long, the std 144 would be fine.. But if you plan to go off trail a lot, I'd go with the 155.
Again, with the 155 the lugs are 2.4" compared to 2" on the 144. So things to consider on hard pack.
There are 3 different RMK 600's, the std 144 being the most plain. Nothing wrong with it, but the std 155 has more upgrades, suspension, better boards. Both "std" 144 and 155 have the extra cooler in the front, so one other thing the wife don't have to watch is overheating on hardpack.
Then there's the PRO, which has all kinds of goodies. On the polaris website, you can check out all the different options. And of course the price goes up with each model.
For me, I have the Pro, and love it. I have ridden Poo 700's for years and still ride with some. But this 600 puts them to shame. It turns the 2.4x155 without issues. It handles great, so easy to throw around in the deep snow. I'm very happy with my choice.
Each one is a little different, but each also has the excellent 600 engine. I guess the hard part is picking which one fits your needs.....if it's a good all round machine you want, pull & go, IMO the std 144 would be a good pic. ...................good luck shopping
