So I go out and buy my wife a 06 700 Sportsman for are anniversary. She is just stoked we get half km boom check engine light on and over heating bad in less than five mins. Limp home check over flow bottle empty.Check the rad tank full. the rad is so hot on the left side you can't touch it right side cold.So I'm thinking plug cores rads not circulating. So I drain the rad,Fill it from the fill spout and watch the drain which is on the oppsite side and it runs out right away. I removed the thermostat hose and put coolant into the tank runs out the engine thermostat fitting, fire the quad up thinking it should blow coolant out and nothing. So before I rip the side of the engine apart has anyone seen or heard of the water pump impeller failing and not pumping??????:rant::confused:

I'v heared form outher people that some times the coolint tee's are made wrong and won't let the coolint curulate. Try that, I'm not too shure how the system is plumbed.

ya the impellers can eventually break or even melt if it has been overheated before. my dad just had to replace his because it had wrecked. could be the thermotstat stuck closed to. the hose that goes to the thermostat is actually the one that brings coolant to the rad. so if you turned the bike on coolant won't come out of it. it could just be that the rad is really plugges with mud. not allowing air to cool it. you have too make sure that it is washed very good. it may look clean but it is probably not.
