I just bought a 09 dragon 800 used and brought it in right away. Mountain toys had no problem doing all the recalls (new pistons and rings, head and mapping the ecu) for me. You don't need the letter it is just to let you know about the recalls i think cause mountain toys didn't ask for it.

its just to let you know , i dropped mine off had it back in 2 weeks , so im ready to rip , or blow it up which ever is frist , In my letter it says it polaris will send me a letter confirming your limited factory engine warrenty has being extended to june 1 2010 , so i think its like 9 months, as much as i love the sled im hopeing for no issues

Only other thing is this silecer they talk about , got me confused as to weather i need it or not

The silencer issue is a bit confusing, but this is what I believe the issue is. If you drive your RMK at an elevation of 3,000 ft or below, it is recommended to get the new Polaris silencer (p/n 1262142-rmk) or the SLP silencer. These silencers are geared to higher flow. According to a response I got from SLP, the single pipe would also be an alternative (although not endorsed by Polaris).

Here is the response I got from SLP when I asked them about the issue, and if they were going to be making any changes to their products.

“These are good questions. We are not changing the pipe or silencer on the Polaris 800 as our pipe kit as well as our silencer to fit the stock pipe is already a high flow unit. The changes Polaris are making to the stock silencer for 0-3000 foot are directed at allowing more flow, so our setup is already supportive of that. We have tested it on the updated Polaris parts for 2010 and know that it works well. Polaris is selling our silencer in there catalog for the 2008-210 models.

Thanks,

hey guys!.....

So I've put a downpayment on an 09 in minnesota,.... should I be getting them to change the pistons and rings out before I pick it up?? All this talk is gettin me worried. Is it guaranteed to blow up if it's not done? They said that they already remapped the ecu, you guys think that's enough?

Thanks

so what you're saying is that the complete warranty update is the whole package, as in rings pistons, reflash and head??

did you tell the tech at cycle works that the thing was from the us? I know they hold a huge grudge against that....Is that's the case, I guess I'll be doing that!

Not sure about the head, but pistons and reflash for sure.
Cycle North in PG tells me anyone with the problem will be taken care of.
