Those pistons did not die from old age. Something went wrong. Either overheated or no oil. New pistons won't last long if you don't figure out what caused the problem.

X2 - Both pistons have the same scoring, they didn't fail from wear. Oil or cooling related for sure.

Had justin's together in about 1 1/2 hours ... Straight forward

That's you.

I have to look at the part
Determine where it fits
Sip of beer and puff of cigar
Test fit part
Re-test fit elsewhere...just in case
Install part
Remember I forgot lock washers
Uninstall
Reinstall with washers
Sip of beer and puff of cigar
Realize there is a bracket that requires use if two bolts and to install Remove the "thingamajig" I installed 5 min ago to install bracket
Drop a bolt under engine
Fish out with magnet
Put bandaid on my knuckles
Sip of beer and puff of cigar
Reinstall all parts again
Verify install to service manual
Uninstall all prev parts due to another error
Reinstall correctly
WhaLaaa.....done installing the carb boot, only 2.5 hours, I'm flying along.....lol

When it's all back together run 50:1 fuel for the first tank. On first run up hold the injection pump wide open with a cloths hanger for the first warmup cycle to bleed lines. You will know if the injection system is working properly after the first ride by the oil level and won't damage anything if it's not working correctly due to the mixture in the tank. She looks to me like an oiling issue. If it was overheated bad enough to do that you would know by the strange smells, warning lights and sweet smelling steam in yor face
