I had a great time at the Edmonton sled show this past weekend. It was awesome putting some faces to the names on the forums. The top secret shop brought a lot of cool new innovative products to display. The booth was super busy. I couldn't believe the interest in the UFO TSS turboed snowbikes, and the Instaboost kits were turning a lot of heads. If turbo's aren't your style they also made a pipe for the XM's similar to the style of the old doo 670 pipes. 8hp gain and save about 20lbs!

Here are some pics

is it actually a 8HP gain on that XM pipe or is it one of those, "well it saved X amount of lbs so that is technically 8HP" type of deals?

Nope it gains HP. They now have a dyno, and do alot of field testing as well.

Would like to see a dyno graph on the pipe claims, seems to be lots of snake oil with XM pipes.

Also kinda creepy but that's me in the last pic.

Didn't I see a center-dump pipe on one of the turbo sleds as well?

most likely. TSS does make a tunnel dump exhaust for NA deals too. I heard it sounds very off? I run a TSS can myself and it is quiet at idle, wakes up quite a bit with throttle input.

It's the worst sounding can lol. I think it's cause of the exhaust coming out on to the paddles. Kinda the same idea as talking into a fan.

like the idea of the front mount turbo, and charge tube flow has little restrictions...

did they go with their air/water, or clean that up as well?

what is the weight loss over their prior....good job tss

On the instaboost ("front mount") turbo kit they use their water to air intercooled air box. They do offer a "low boost" kit without the intercooler. But with that kit, the turbo is mounted on the side like normal.

I feel pretty strongly about using the water to air intercooler, your intake/charge temps are as consistent as possible therefore your sled will run as consistent as possible too. Climate changes and long pulls will both generate huge fluctuations and the intercooler will regulate these as much as possible.

Not too sure on the weight loss of the new kit.

Do you mean tunnel dump? They do tunnel dumps on the turbos they don't sound off like the cans. The tunnel dump theory works though. You never have trouble with pow plugging up your exhaust.

Or do you mean turbo mounted on the expansion chamber of the pipe? That's what TSS calls instaboost. They still offer the side mount kit just like last years but with a KPA turbo instead of the garret.

Im just talkin about the exhaust system in your one pic for the etec

Yeah they are selling lots of those pipe kits too. Almost sold out at edmonton. Hopefully they have time to make a pile more before the Saskatoon show. They are selling like crazy.

Wonder if the front mount will unballence the sled some, a sled is lighter on the right side as it is, with a stock can.. Time will tell

i found that boost under 5lbs did not really needed the inter cooler, and did some long runs in the testing, but you could be correct on the higher boost levels, installed a charge air temp gauge to monitor more closely this season when boost is higher

Boost under 5lbs is not in my vocabulary lol. But you still have the elements to contend with and the intercooler helps with that too. I wouldn't spend the money on a turbo unless I can run a minimum of 7-8 LBS. That's when it goes from fun to REALLY fun and fast.
