Hi guys, I'm new to sledding, but not new to motor sports. We just picked up a pro rmk 155 2014, I have a few questions for ya guys.

Is there any mods that I should consider before heading out to the mountains? Skid plate, bags, etc

Extra oil in each tank of gas, 250ml per tank I was told is a good idea?

The ethanol map runs the sled richer, is anyone running this map with pure 91oct to get it to run a bit richer since the EPA has everything running as lean as possible?

100mile break in for the belt, do that around here, or is it possible in the mountains to break the belt in?

anything to setup or check out on the machine before heading out?

Do the 14s have weak piston skirts that I've read about? We declined the extra 2 year warranty, I figure if anything goes wrong past the first year I can fix it... If the skirts are weak, why would I want them replaced again with the same pistons, I heard about the fix kit...

any other suggestions are welcome, thanks

Welcome aboard. I have a 2013 with 2000 miles.

It would seem that they have the engine reliability figured out from 13 up. No need to run in the richer mode with non-eth 91. There is a knock sensor to help protect your motor if you get some bad fuel and when it comes to two strokes leaner is meaner. The preferred method of getting a better fuel/oil mix is to turn up the injector pump a bit.

I think they reduced the break-in time for the Quick-drive belt in 14? I didn't follow the procedure with my weaker 13 version and no problems. Many did have trouble in 13 though but the 14's were good.

The stock clutching is really good IMO but there are lots of options for maybe a marginal improvement.

I gave up on skid-plates a long time ago, they just hold too much snow and ice but I guess it just takes that one time straddling a hidden rock for it to pay for itself.

At minimum I would have the under-hood bag for goggle drying. However many else you get depends on what you like to pack to feel comfortable. The under-seat one doesn't get in the way.

Merc, congrats on the new sled. If you don't mind me asking how much were the able to knock off without the 2 year warranty?

I too am in the market, and I like your philosophy of fixing it yourself...I think I may see what my dealer can do price wise with no warranty also

I also just picked up a 14, i plan on running a VEI rear bumper/tunnel brace(gets rid of the stock rear bumper and beefs up the tunnel substantially).
An aftermarket can, some foot well vents/screens and a dash intake vent are also on my list.

Gdhillion, 11650 otd. 1 yr warranty.

ill look into that under the hood bag and maybe a back seat bag. I like to have some tools and survival kit in the mountains. Ya never know.

How do I turn up the oiler?

What do you run for bumpers Vance, any Canadian suppliers for sturdier ones?

i got the extreme bumpers i picked up from a polaris dealer one day i was buying some parts for my old dragon.

you should also buy the fix kit not only because of reliability but because you will have a little more hp.
i would check the threads first tho because guys are getting good mileage out of the newer liberties.
i cant say because the fitting on the bottom of the oil pump broke off on mine and well only 700 miles on the fix kit so far.

when and if you do order i would suggest Snow X | High Performance Parts ive used there parts and no issues and save some cash

Replace the quickdrive bolts to grade 8. Some guys lost the bottom one at about 1200 kms.(snapped off) We might see much more this season as many people have not put the kms on their 14's yet. This maybe rare, not too sure but it happened to me and it could have been fatal where I was riding. No go and no brakes, then enjoy the ride.

"We have also introduced a Service Bulletin to address sprocket fastener torque. This bulletin instructs dealers to replace the sprocket bolts and torque properly. This will ensure the fastener stays tight and will not allow the sprocket to loosen – a condition which may also reduce QuickDrive belt life. Consumers should have this work done as soon as they can."

ii need to check if this was done.

what is Polaris' upgraded bolt??

if it's loosening, maybe some blue loctite is a good idea?

is there service manuals for these machines? How do I take this belt off?

did did some research, the 14/15s should already have this done from the factory. New bolts with loctite preapplied and torqued to 45lbs, up from 30ftlbs.

Ya that was a service bulletin for the 13s. As far as I know there wasn't any service bulletins for the 14s.... There are service manuals for these sleds but I think you have to buy them from the dealer.
