This story is doing the rounds here big time. Like so many of these heli ops around here they bring little to the local community as guests so often go strait from airport to the lodge. Then they say we r ruining the environment!? I know guys that build ski runs for 1 op. Very little environmently friendly about their over all op. Sure best practices. But if you didn't see it, it didn't happen right?

Many years ago before the Island Lake Lodge development some of us would go back country skiing in the area. After the development started we were told it was all for snow cat skiing and we could no longer go there. It seems in B.C. you can buy an area and keep it all for yourself and you clients.
I hope Mike is stopped from taking over more mountains so that the average person will have no access to them.

What he said, don't care it you are a snow shoer, skier , sledder or a goat fuker.Let's not entitle ourselves to select portions of any mountain.

Exactley, last winter I went snowshoeing in Kananaskis and some ass on X county skies told me I couldn’t be there. I was walking to the side of the ski tracks to not ruin them. He and his friends received a massive tongue lashing.

I think that buying a Powder Packers Club membership would also put up a great case to support them. Sign the petition and buy a membership.
Strength in numbers.

One of the big problems I have with any tenure and especially heliski tenure is that they just draw a big circle around an area and say they want that. I would doubt if 5% of that area is skiable. It is either too flat to cliffy or just unsuitable for skiing. The government needs to start charging by the hectare (I use to pay only 500 bucks a year) and they will quickly see what is useful and what isn't.

Anyone see the area he is trying to call his own?
