Read the petition mister smart ass?
It's the wasted $ they spent (46 .9 million) to have it.

Sorry don't do face book,I have real life, dont text ether. The fact is if you want it to go away quit speeding.I got tired of giving the government free money for smoking so I quit, as long as there money to be made there will be government there

Actually Maxwell, it is a very frightening experience hitting a child with a car. It happened to me when I was in my 20's

the girl just ran out from between 2 cars. Luckily I wasn't speeding, and I wasn't charged because she wasn't hurt too bad. Kids are just that... Kids.

I am all for slowing the residential to 40km/h.

I signed the petition not for the reason they want it, but for the cash grab. Obviously the money isn't paving the streets...

80 kph on the frickin white mud? Cmon, who sets these speed limits, mr Rogers ?

When the Whitemud was built , the speed limit was 100 kph. It was lowered to 80 due to excessive noise complaints from people living nearby. Since then noise barriers have been added and vehicles are much quieter.

Actually, slowing down on residential streets won't make much difference to you but will give a better chance of avoiding a kid being a kid is on the street. Obviously you survived and i dought it was completley due to you being wiser than the other kids. Society must of had at least a litlle to due with it.

A ticket for 5 km/h over? That's bush league.
Bush league is close to what I would say. There is no money ticketing someone doing 30+ kph over the limit. Not enough doing that speed, so why not ticket people bumping the limit. Now thats where the money is, because everyone does drift over. I'm surprised there are so few pedestrians being hit, from what I hear alot of drivers scan the ditches and the speedometer and less on the road.

Heck, in Montana the limit on a twisty secondary hwy was 70 mph with no shoulders! Very intimidating for me with a motorhome for the first while. Driving down there was relaxing with no traffic concerns, when I hit the Cdn border the familiar aggression and paranoia quickly returned, scanning ditches and bridge decks. And I was under the limit! Cant afford to speed in a motorhome that guzzles fuel at 10 mpg.

The speed limits for residential, commercial and school zones in the state of California is 30 MPH, unless otherwise posted.

Google it.

So tell me why this isn't an issue in the states? Or have you never been out of your little town to know any better?

Yep school zones and residential I got no problem with 30-50k.But freeways like the Whitemud should be a little higher. And photo radar does absolutely nothing for safety. It's strictly a revenue generating program.

Ya I was totally joking. I've had my share of pedestrian scares navigating Edmonton

Been there pulling a trailer with a quad in the box. Holy sheet 70 mph everywhere. 60 mph at night and for trucks

Like I said maybe you need to leave that little town of yours if you don't believe it. I have had two trips to Cali and Nevada in a month and going back in two weeks. See once again you have no clue what you're talking about.

here is a street in california i was staying on. 55mph residential area. oh and look a bike lane LOL. a road similar to that in alberta would be 30mph

to put it into perspective our 3-4 lane FREEWAY whitemud is slower than that residential street.
