I’m sure the landlord will get screwed on the lease???

Thats usually why you make someone sign a lease, so you dont get screwed.

Not sure if peavy mart owns the building or what the deal is though.

Peavey doesn't own the building here in our town. Out of the three buildings in the 47 years, they never owned the buildings in the town.

Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer will need a new sponsor. That seems like a kiss of death to a company when they start sponsoring hockey rinks. Skyreach went tits up after sponsoring the northland’s coliseum. Looking like they tried the Trudeau economic plan…

That's gotta hurt Guy's Transport. Them shinny trucks were Peavy's freight co.
Looks like Peavy purchased Guys in 2023

So here is a statement they posted, as noted below. Not a lawyer but does this protect them from paying the lease anymore?? Any key board lawyers here?

On Tuesday morning, Peavey Mart released a public statement, saying, "Yesterday [Jan. 27], our company announced that it had sought and obtained an Initial Order for creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) from the Court of King’s Bench Alberta."

Depends on the lease agreement. It probably has a 'force majeure' clause that accounts for them going out of business.
