Saw those but they looked like they were for lifted trucks? Plus they are pretty rich compared to the old Ride Rites! Apples and pickles, I know. I dont expect to need 12" of travel!

They are intended for low lift, like stock-2" rear lift sort of thing. They are decent but extremely pricy. And, they are not the best option for heavy loads. They are ok for a 1000lbs in the box or whatever. But if your really loading your truck up say 4000lbs, other shorter air bags will be far superior for stability.

:confused: so pretty much they said ya we know your over weight and its unsafe but your tires can carry more so givr.... only in alberta lol

Funny, I got the opposite out of that. It stated: " we strongly recommend not carrying more than the truck manufacturer's assigned ratings; exceeding the manufacturer's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating GVWR may create an unsafe condition. As the vehicle owner you are responsible to ensure your vehicle combination is safe whenever operating on a roadway, including being safely loaded."

ie. the onus is on you should you get into an accident, and you were over GVWR, to prove your vehicle was safe. It's going to take more than: well my tires can take the weight. Good luck finding an engineer to get on the stand and say your vehicle was safe.

Also safely loaded is more than under just the weight of the load.

I agree, they shouldn't be so soft on meeting GVWR...it creates a lot of confusion and it allows a lot of folks to set themselves up for trouble (1/2 ton w/ 3600lb rated tires).

So I can haul 5500 lbs if I go my the door sticker but if I go with the tire ratings I can haul almost 10,000 lbs! LMAO! I know I have a tough truck, but I sure won't be testing it to the max tire weights anytime soon! The guys with half ton trucks need to tow a small 2 place trailer instead of using a deck...even my old 3/4T 4x4 was close to being overloaded with gear and two sleds on the deck.

Where are you getting 5500lbs? My 04 dodge 3500 dually has a gvw of 12,000lbs. Truck has got to weight ATLEAST 7,500lbs. That's only 4,500lbs, and I bet the truck is closer to 8,000lbs. I think the newer ones got 12,500lbs gvw or something, but I know it ain't much more. Unless your just adding the two axle capacities for the number?

I rechecked using the internet and I believe the truck is rated to haul 5130 lbs. When I purchased the truck back in 2007 I thought it was rated to haul 5500 lbs. I have not even come close to that much weight on the truck. Even when I have had my 5th wheel flat deck trailer maxed out for weight the overloads barely touch the spring perches. It is nice having a bit more truck than you need...not stressing the hell out of the tow machine sure helps!
