IMPROVE AND EXPAND CANADA’S SNOWMOBILE AND RECREATIONAL TRAILS

The snowmobile was invented in Canada and, ever since, snowmobiling
has been a hugely popular Canadian recreational activity.
Our Government has provided support to the National Trails Coalition
for a national initiative to create and improve snowmobile and
all-terrain-vehicle trails. To date our support has helped improve 500
trails across the country.
We will build on this accomplishment, through additional funding for
upgrades and new trails.
They plan on doing this by investing ($2.5 million dollars per year) starting in 2012 for 4 years totalling $10 million dollars to maintain and improve trail systems in Canada.

Perhaps, but it would be nice to see all the political parties jump on this bandwagon though.

I agree, and with an election pending which for the most part is meaningless we might as well band together and see if we can at least show the candidates that our numbers matter....

I will put together a general request letter emphisizing the need for further funding for recreational trails and activities those who want to try and make a difference can print it sign it and send one copy to local and one copy to federal representitives of thier choice.... or all for that matter....

I will upload a letter to this thread by the end of the day today.

Here is what I will be sending in as will the wife and the voting age daughter.

Feel free to print/modify/sign and send.... if you don't agree with my message then write your own but for chrizt sakes do something.

We all come on here and whine and complain etc.... maybe if we bombard candidates with letters we might be recognized.... 45 people can invest countless hours of planning, canvassing, and preparation over months into trail development and 3 vocal adversaries can have the entire project scrapped.... it's time we be vocal, 5 minutes and a stamp is all you need.

If you don't do anything then STFU and quit whining...

pass it on to non-S&M members, neighbors, family, friends.... 25K members people...

Just sayin...

Don't feel bad Bogger. Most people would rather come on here and argue about how much better their sled is over everyone else's, rather than do something productive for their sport.

i see that someone has got off the butt and done something thanks bogger

murminator, :nono::nono: we do not need government requiring us to wear helmets, and i would fight this tooth and nail. i for one am tired of someone else telling me what to do. if you do not have the common sense to wear a dam helmet, you will pay the penalty and your stupidity will end at that time, no more government stupid laws. (gun registry, seat belts, etc. ) :nono:

The best way (in my opinion of course) to lobby for anything snowmobile related, is to JOIN A CLUB. Then have the provincial organization(s) lobby on your behalf. Those are real numbers. I believe it is mandatory to join a club in Quebec, thus the big numbers and the big bucks.

i understand, but i don't need government telling me what to do. he may kick and it would be over. you can use that same arguement all over, no using bath tub, user may fall and become quad, no chewing gum , you may fall and choke, becoming brain dead due to lack of oxygen-- you can only eat 1500 calories a day or you will have increased levels of heart disease because of overweight. all people on welfare need to be sterilized so we don't have to support extra mouths.-- no left turns at intersections as it leads to more accidents, no driving at night you may hurt the deer. no riding sleds without body armour you get hurt, we all pay, i think you get my point. let natural selection keep thinning the herd.

just no more stupid government laws that they cannot enforce now.

I agree with the enforcement aspect or the lack of enforcement. But some of the laws have benefited you and I by cutting the costs of dooing business.

Seat belts come to mind immediately. Lower health costs, lower insurance costs (we didn't see a real reduction in costs but we didn't see a drastic rise. Surely, the mandatory use of helmets would and does the same.

I also agree that too much govt is not a good thing.

But all this BS and that is what it is, has nothing to doo with the great Golden ride so let's cool it for another time.

I have joined a club and I have volunteered to be the ASA rep for my club..

I agree club membership is important, but so is letting our elected officials know that we the voting citizens want our interests represented...

For us to get a share of the pie that is intended for snowmobile trails, we need to let our local MLA's know we know the money is there for this and we want some of it.
