So as long as one applies before my pal expires on that date it’s ok even if it takes 2 months to process after my expiry date? Or what’s the deal?

It is yes, unless you need to show your pal to purchase ammo, or a firearm, some places may not accept it as valid if it's past the expiry date.

I believe the RCMP have a 6 month grace period.

No I did not. After trying to do it online and not working I mailed it out. But after reading these posts and learning that there is a grace period I am not worried anymore about it. Mine expires just before opening day and I thought I would not be able to hunt if my new PAL had not arrived. I have plenty of ammo so won't have to buy any for a bit.

I have never had a warden ask for my PAL. Just hunting license and verify gun is unloaded.

Guy I know was shooting gophers in the middle of his pasture. Maybe third to half mile off the road and fish cop drove into his pasture and stopped him and asked to see his PAL. He didn’t have it on him and had to get cop to follow him home to show it to him. Frikken crazy.

I believe Jess told him he had no business telling him what to do on his own land. Fish Cop said he has the right to check for firearms and fishing license s for people in the act. I’ll ask the new fish cop next time I see him and see what he says. The guy mentioned was transferred

That just shows which side the law enforcement is on and it’s not the honest people.

No where in the hunting regs does it say you need a pal to go hunting.

Just go with someone who has one. They are his/her guns.
