Please inform of the whole story and fill in all the gaps so we as locals can help out. This is not acceptable and I’m certain if the said rider knew you were looking for him he would step forward. Sounds like somebody needs to go the the RCMP and explain to the Sergent that some dickwad left the scene of an motor vehicle accident involving injuries to a third party. That is a serious charge and if they are not interested in following up, go to the next level of supervision which might be regional and copy your MP.

Doesn't seem like it is an accusation. It is a fact. No sense letting the matter sit with the RCMP though. Sometimes they need to be ridden to do their job.

This situation is exactly why BC needs to make insurance mandatory on crown land! Fawk the registration check stops, insurance is the piece of paper they should be doing spot checks for!

Sorry for the delay in responding a friend of the family started the thread for us, it has been a very long and stressful past 5 days. Here is all the information that we have as of right now.
Friday December 7
My Dad along with two other guys drove to kilometer 12 and unloaded their snow bikes there. They rode Owls head for the day, at the end of the day my Dad started the trail down and he was just going to meet his other two buddies at the trucks.
incident time between 2:30-3:00
In between kilometer 12 and 14, a snowmobile came out of the ditch/side of the trail possibly in the air and hit him head on. Reports I have is there was a group of snowmobilers in the middle of the trail and it sounds like the individual the hit him may have been having overheating issues, had gone back up to more snow area to cool off sled. Another guy from the group heard the crash and came up to investigate. My Dad asked this guy to grab his phone out of his pocket to call a family friend to call search and rescue, the call was made and more people began to arrive to my Dad. Couple guys took control of the situation and in the meantime the other two friends had also showed up. Do to the extent of my fathers injures everybodies focus was keeping him conscious,comfortable and warm. During this time one of Dads riding buddies spoke face to face with individual that hit him, then went back to my Dad and that is the only interaction that we know of and are unsure where the group went.Took about 3 hours for the helicopter arrive, once landed they transported him to Salmon Arm and were still unknown of the extent of his injuries. After the assessment they needed to transport him immediately to Kamloops for emergency surgery, to stop the internal bleeding and to temporarily put his pelvis together till he is more stable for the full surgery. He was sedated for a couple days and is now out of it and they are working on his pain management till his next surgery. He is going to have a long road to recovery.
We are are looking for a shorter French male, riding a blue or blue wraped bombardier snowmobile. That I was told has significant/noticeable damage, possible driving a dark blue/black Ford F-350 with a sled deck. RCMP are currently involved, but it may take some of our own diligence to track the individual down. He has not at this time come forward. I have spoken with multiple people mostly spreading the word that we are looking for this person or anybody that was part of that group that would step up and come forward to me or the RCMP with any information. I can be pm for information at anytime and opened to hearing anything anybody has to say.
My family wants to give a huge shout out of appreciation for all the individuals that helped our Dad on the hill, and the quick decisions they made and the knowledge they used was amazing. We would also like to thank Salmon Arm and Kamloops hospital staff for the stand up job they did and have been doing with my Dad

Thanks for the up date but i hate to say it but as already mentioned. This is BC and in BC no insurance is required, it is "ride at your own risk" sadly that is the facts.
Your only course of action will be a lawsuit and that will be a tough gig as there was no intent to injure it was an accident and again NO insurance is required and partaking in the sport can have very serious consequences, in BC if you do not carry your OWN insurance you are on your own if crap happen's.
Wish a good speedy recovery to your father.
Hunting down the dude involved is not going to change anything unless your planning to sue. Good luck on that.

ive crossed trail lots, coming out of the trees around the trail is great riding (in Sicamous). Obviously looking both ways, but some guys fly down those trails.
Curious if the injured fella has his own insurance?? The argument could be made he was crossing the trail and the other guy smashed into him?

Not sure about bc but in Alberta you need insurance to even get a plate or registration.... proof of insurance anyways...lol
