I have to say though, I would much rather pay a one time BC fee vs the annual registration in Alberta.

Its an across the board thing here in BC that addresses some common issues with liability on road crossings and staging areas for all off hi-way vehicles as well as a solid data base to put a vehicles vin number with a name and ID plate that the RCMP have easy access too......the existing sled registration here in BC is useless as its not in a central data base but on someones desk in a rolladex in Victoria......its a one time 48 dollar charge that ICBC administers......the plate/decal thing is still kinda bein sorted out as they already have ATV plates ready....but there is some concernes that the provincial sled bodies are addressing

Yup alberta, Red plates, home of cheap gas, lower taxes and we want our fair share of bc licence fees lol

Have you been drinking teas with Tex?

You don't pay BC registration fees as a sledder. It is for BC residents. Just like your regular motor vehicle registration is valid out of AB. You drive across the border with it right?

What it means to out of province (outside of BC) riders is that effective next year they can enforce ohv vehicle registration for out of province ohv's. So it is possible that you will see enforcement in the staging areas. So if you don't already register your sleds, be prepared to start.

This has been coming for a long time. Riding our bikes this past summer in BC a conservation officer had talked to us about it.

I don't even ride my sleds in Alberta but they are registered. I renew in June so prorated it doesn't cost much. Just easy to do all the vehicles at once.

What's going to be interesting is when you pay your registration fee , will they be collecting tax on the purchase price of that machine even if it was a used machine you have had for years?

my guess is yes .... What information do I need to bring to the broker to register my ORV?

To demonstrate you are the legal owner of the vehicle, one or more of the following is required:

A New Vehicle Information Statement or a Certificate of Origin if purchased new, but never registered previously.
A Bill of Sale or other document acceptable as a Bill of Sale, such as a Transfer Tax Form (APV9T) signed by seller - Transfer Tax forms are widely available from any Autoplan broker.
A completed B. C. Consumer Taxation Branch Gift of Vehicle Form (FIN 319)
For ORVs imported from the U.S., a Title Certificate; Form 1 or B15 Accounting Document.
For ORVs imported into B.C. from another Canadian jurisdiction, the previous registration documents.
In the absence of the above, a sworn statutory declaration (MV1484) will be required with information about how you came into possession of the off road vehicle and your attempts to get the one or more of the other documentation as described above.
