opening the air box

i am looking at open my air box up by removing the snorkle or I have seen some side covers with holes in it was woundering would i have to rejet also looking at putting a k&n filter in it as well.

U shouldnt need to... The carb is going to take in the same amount of air anyways... Do your holes then try running your bike... idle, the half throttle then full throttle to see for dead spots... other then that u shouldnt need to re jet ur carb...

Depending on how much you open it up you'll have to rejet for sure. It will be terribly lean if you don't go up a jet size or two, and there isnt much point in opening up the intake if you don't open up the exhaust as well. I know twin air used to make some handy screen inserts for those who drilled extra holes in their airbox to give it a clean look and a little extra filtration, I'll see if I can find a part number for you.

go over to thumpertalk.com maverick, anything you will ever want to know about 4 strokes and modding them is there. there are specific sections for every make and model of bike, and pictorials on everything you could possibly want to do....from smog deletes to complete engine rebuilds. do a search on airbox mods in the XR200 section and you will be swimming in excellent info...
