OLD HOCKEY POOL........

THIS IS THE LINK YOU NEED TO ENTER THE HOCKEY POOL:
go to "your draft" on the left hand side and then select your players by clicking on the "hired" button next to the player. Player's salaries on your team must not total any more than the salary cap (56.8 million)

Next, click on "join a group" on the left side and type in "rmk" in the group code.

You have until midnight on October 10th to submit our team.

I was just wondering if there would be any interest in joining a hockey pool just among members of this site. I'd be willing to run it myself as it's fairly easy. It would probably be free as that keeps it simple so strictly for bragging rights. Let me know in this thread and if we get enough people, I will start it fairly soon.

Re: Hockey Pool

Glad to see a bunch of interest already. How would you guys like to run it? I have a couple ideas, but not sure which one everyone prefers. I could either give out a sheet with players to choose from in boxes or we could somehow organize a draft. The draft could include trades and stuff to keep everyone interested.

Not sure if it could be arranged, but we could all agree to be on here at the same time and draft the players using the main page chat.

Re: Hockey Pool

I think I'm going to make it fairly simple and have everyone pick players from a box list. Just choose one player from each box and I'll enter the teams into the site and then let you know which site and the username and password and all that.

We'll use officepools.com

When you go to the site, click on tools (top right corner beside news and help)

Then click on Box Pool (download the PDF) and select one player from each box.

Then PM me with your lists and I will enter the teams.

Anyone wanting to join must submit their lists to me no later than Oct 10th.

Points will be awarded as follows:

Players:
goal=1
assist=1
PIM=1
PP goal=1 bonus
SH goal=1 bonus
Shootout winner=1 bonus

Goalies
win=1
shutout=2 bonus
assist=1
OT win=1 bonus
OT shutout=2 bonus

Re: Hockey Pool

On top of the other boxes. I'm adding 2 boxes strictly for Rookies. The players in the groups will be:

Group 1 (forwards):
John Tavares
Cody Hodgson
Matt Duchene
Nikita Filatov
Mikael Backlund

Group 2 (defensemen):
Matt Gilroy
Victor Hedman
Tomas Hickey
Alex Pietrangelo
Cody Franson

Re: Hockey Pool

Just so an injury doesn't kill someone's season, how about if you have 16 groups, only top 15 count towards your score?

I'm in too!!!! Other "box style" drafts I've been part of allowed one trade before New Years; and one after to deal with injuries or bad picks.:d:d

Re: Hockey Pool

For the first timers, it is very simple to follow. Just log in each day to check where you are in the standings. We do this same hockey pool format at my work every year and get about 50+ people in on it. Costs 20 bucks for that one and I won it last year. It was great, came down to the last day of the season too.

Re: Hockey Pool

I also really like the idea of dropping the worst player so only 15 players count. No trades though. That way if you make a crappy pick you are stuck with it.
