Suppose a person could always call a card collector to see what they might be worth to sell???

I have about five big boxes full, in the same boat. They were left behind from a renter who skipped out on paying rent in the middle of the night...he had them hidden in a closet tucked under the stair well. Who out smarted who..... What cards do you have? Any old Habs?

They make priceguides to give you an idea. I have a few boxes around here but only from the 80's-90's so they aren't worth alot yet. I used to own a store with a buddy and part of it was trading cards, he still does it and can give you good info and won't rip you off if you have anything of value.

You could find some worth 10-20 bucks or so a card for the right player, and if you're lucky to have specific ones could be in the hundreds. Most will be worth nothing though-and it does depend alot on the actual make of the card (upper deck is a good one) The highest value card we dealt with was a Gretzky at 1000 bucks in the late 90's...wonder what it's worth now?
Definitely don't throw them out until you go through them, you never know what's in there and who's become a star since. There are gonna be lots worth absolutely nothing but worth going through or holding onto.

This is not a good idea, I am sure they wil tell you: Ah there not worth much but i will take them off your hands for $50 then turn around and make that all back selling one card.

the best way to find out what they are worth is look on eBay and watch the same card till the very end of the sale. Most of the bids on ebay happen in the last 1 minute of the auction.

Ditto...it's definitely worth checking a guide first to have a clue and to find someone who knows something about them that you trust. Or yeah, the most common thing is what Dadbro said...'let me take them off your hands...they aren't worth much...'

Yup, plan on keeping them-we've had them for 20 years now so we'll see what we have in another 20. Got em in proper boxes, potential good ones in hard cases. They are tucked away so I don't see them and they don't pizz me off and I get rid of 'em  I kept hubbys too, not sure if he knows they still exist or not. We used to do some buying/trading when I had the store - it was a hot thing then I tell ya!

early 90's they made a huge comeback and everyone seemed to be making cards .. and flooded the market which in turn drove prices down
unless you had some of the odd ball sets then they might be worth more

How about 5 Larry Robinson rookie cards,I also have a Glen Sather card, never checked into it but I believe it is a rookie card. Was a bigtime collecter.got about 500 cards from the early 70,s!
Oh ya.....unfortunatly they arnt worth squat unless you find someone who really wants them. For cards that are 30 years old they should be a lot more, one last thing, they need to be mint or once again not worth much!
