Like seriously, they say they need to be shut down like RiGHT now, sure they are polluting the air, but everyone that's protesting, how do they get around? They drive a car just like everyone else, they burn fuel, they use oil, and you watch, if the oil sands were to get shut down then they will complain cause their is no gas or oil for their car.

Not trying to start any wars or anything but people don't realize what they have till it's gone...

Exactly!! The oil sands are natural and the production and extraction methods are relatively clean (at worst) compared to other parts of the world. They should go squawk in the other countries where their so called "dirty oil" actually exists and see how long they are around for.

This is from right behind what used to be the Coalspur campground at the beginning of the Cadomin road. This pic was taken on the July long weekend of this year. I was shocked by what I saw. I don't see them protesting all the mining going on in the area. The rapeing of the country side. And they have the nerve to complain about OHV use in the backcountry.

the best part is when the protesters say the oilsands developments are destroying the earth up there. maybe they don'y know that the oil was discovered basically bubbling out of the ground. and since the ground is saturated with the oil, and after refinement the earth gets put back waaaaaaaaay cleaner than it was taken out, maybe they should be applauding the developments for CLEANING up the earth in that area..........................................................just saying

all that stuff is made, and oil is one of the number 1 things to help produce all that stuff. my god people who protest are idiots.

I've worked in the mining, forestry, and energy sectors for a lot of years now. To quote an old P&H Mining bumper sticker, "If it can't be grown, it's got to be mined". Forestry is a renewable resource, everything else has to be mined (taken from the ground & not renewable). The idiots that protest against this are hypocrites unless they're living buck naked under the boughs of a tree. Most of the products that we use in our lives would not exist without mining or logging.
