- You can take the 541 west of Longview right up to the 940 (that is where the Kananaskis highway is now closed.
- Go south approximately 5 kms to the Etherington staging area; or keep going south to the Cataract staging area. The 940 road is closed at that point.

Thanks for supporting the club and our efforts to keep this great area going for all to enjoy!

Couldn't resist checking it out yesterday so after we managed to dig out at home we made the journey over to Cataract. Showed up at the Etherington staging area around 1 and there were about 7 or 8 other trucks there already. Probably a good thing because the road in from the 541 had not been plowed so the other trucks made some good tracks for us to follow. Not sure I would have tried if not for the tracks. Snow on the road was pretty deep, I would estimate 40-50cm. Parking lot was a bit of a shi* show from all the snow. On the trails I would estimate 40-70cm of fresh snow. We managed to find some untracked trails and it was glorious. Got back to the parking lot after dark and proceeded to dig out our stuck vehicles and while we were in the process of that the plow came along and cleared the road to the lot, but not the lot itself. Not sure who does that and when they do it but be prepared to get stuck in there until it gets cleared. Great half day and worth the trip for sure.

I really would like to post some photos but I'm not having any luck. I checked the FAQ and followed the directions but no go. Tried uploading directly, no go. Tried uploading to google drive and creating a link, no go. File is a jpg and 4.13 MB. Directions on this site are vague to say the least. Maybe I'm not allowed to upload yet?

Anyone heading out this week? My Revy plans got cancelled, so I'm off all week anyways! Mays'll make the most of close riding areas.

All the gear, baofeng radio, AST1 etc etc.

I'm on a snowbike, but ride with sleds all the time.

Shoot me a MSG if ya wanna go sometime.

Merry Xmas!

Due to the public health orders, we’re asking that memberships be purchased through our website:

www.calgarysnowmobileclub.net
- go to the “Join The Club” tab

Rachelle will process the paperwork once payment is received and send that out to you.

If you’re in the High River area, I believe Darryl might have a membership box at his store, The Accessories Shop - but maybe confirm that with him via telephone before you head there. He sells a lot of passes there for us and has run out in the past before we can re-load him!!

Thanks for your support!

https://www.calgarysnowmobileclub.net/calgary_snow_mobile_club_join.html - Looks like this could be a year we are riding local so help out the ASA and your local snowmobile club.. if you join b4 January 1st you can save $10 on it..

The club puts in a lot of hard work maintaining trails, keeping a clear access and cleaning and supplying facilities at the staging area. Lots of work gets done behind the scenes with the Govt to keep these areas open for us to enjoy as well..

Have a good rip!

I hope someone gets back to this thread before Monday night, as I will have an update by then from club m meets riding there today and tomorrow.

to this point, I know the road in - Hwy 940 - is cleared all the way to Cataract Creek staging parking lot at kms 12,, 6 kms past Etherington, but the parking lots are an issue it seems. To many vehicles and trailers in the lots to properly plough them out when the grader was there. Hope to hear they have been cleared by Monday night.

Yes the parking lot at Cateract was interesting

Road going in was plowed and sanded. It didnt seem like the lot would be a challenge but 50 feet into the lot was like quick sand We had new dodge Diesel 4x4 with studded tires and it was instantly humbling

On Boxing Day most guys lined the road and backed into the gate. Probably 10-14 trucks there and everyone figured out somewhere to unload, without using the lot

Im guessing that would be one of the busy days so on a normal day I can’t see parking a problem moving forward
