(willy, you need not comment...nobody really cares what you pretend to know. Just spin another one, and go collect your welfare when the office opens)

A forward thinker would think past the first step. If the answer is kick out Harper then what is next? Trudeau? Please lay it all out for us. Short term and long term solutions. Alternative options, economic diversity plans, who should we sell our products to if not China? Lumber? Oil? Mining? Agriculture? Tourism? Fisheries? Environment? Bilingualism? Poverty?

Please feel free to dazzle us.

Jesus Christ the fawking Tyee? You think that left wing rag has any credibility? Not to mention the author used to be the CEO of ICBC. However, I can see merit in some of what he says regarding WCS vs Brent but the refining benefit is completely without stats. He would have you believe that all of Canadian crude is refined in refineries owned by oil sand corportations which we all know to be false.

That dam free trade agreement we sign we get to sell our oil to usa for 30 dollars less a barrel than anyone else is paying and cannot turn the volume down, we are flucked and don't even no it. We will be sitting in the cold while they are getting the oil.

Refining our oil sounds great in concept and theory, and if it was profitable companies would be doing it. However, given the high costs of labour, poor project management abilities, and ridiculously insane amount of regulatory obligations that must be fulfilled, combined with the economics behind the price of oil (input costs) and your refined products (output costs), it really isn't profitable to build refineries here in Canada unfortunately. When companies have underutilized refineries in the USA just waiting for more oil - it's almost a no brainer. Purely from an economics perspective...

According to the people mentioned in that article (Ronald Schlenker, a senior instructor in economics at the University of Calgary... and others) it IS profitable.

but Harper cares about China... not Canada !

Give it a phucking rest Willy.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would like to see Willy banned for continually thrashing out senior government and the Honourable Mr. Harper.

That statement, like a lot of Willy's rhetorical diarrhea, just turns a perfectly good thread into a pissing match. We don't need it!

Maybe it should be ferniesnow for mod.......just joking!
