Belle is supposed to be a bit better than Lucille. Also less land mines. Supposed to snow all weekend.
Them damn porcupines....Barry and the club spent lots of time and money fixing it up last spring. If there was enough donations possibly get the cabin walls and under the floor lined with aluminum checkerplate or tin. That would fix them creatures. Im willing to throw $100.00 in.
Use 1" stucco wire. It's dirt cheap and it's galvanized.
And a few more. I'd say there's only about half the snow we'd normally have at this time up there now. It was +6 ,cloudy and the odd shower in town when I left this afternoon, but I'd dare to say it wasn't snowing all that hard up top because you could still see the tops thru breaks in the clouds now and then. Here's hoping for a ton more snow before Dec. 1.
Good to see you guys Higgins,
Can't post any pics from up Renshaw today, forgot the camera cord, but will post them tomorrow night once back home. Unload at 23 kms, about 8-10 inches of snow. Someone else had tried to go up on Friday but didn't make it, must of got frustrated with the logs, or smacked something up, we pounded up the trail with very little effort, only to find about 18" at the cabin. Maybe half way up to the deck. Porcupine has destroyed the inside of the cabin ,a dozen or so holes chewed into the floor and walls, and lots of urine and feces left behind. Going to need a major repair and clean up before the crowds arrive. Didn't bother going anywhere as the landmines where to obvious, the trail back out was not pretty, stumps galore!! Need at least another 2-3' up there , hoping like hell we get that before the next trip Dec. 1. It snowed lightly off and on while up there but nothing of significance. I'll have pics tomorrow.
Thanks, CR500R. The boys will be having a work bee on Sunday, November 21 at Renshaw Cabin to cleanup/fix porcupine damage. Taking up a number of three foot rolls of galvanized tin. Barry says they may wrap the whole cabin - that should fix the sonofa@#&* porcupines (his words). They do have a plan to do alot of work to Renshaw Cabin this coming year. That's one of the priorities with the club's portion of the trail pass monies. A long term priority will be to build a new, much larger cabin.
There is a supposed to be a significant storm hit us today and last till sometime late tomorrow. And also calling for more snow thru-out the week. Do your snow dances guys and gals.
Well it's about time for some snow, I would hate to sacrifice the youngest to get this snow rolling in:d
