do you have a volt meter ?If your battery shows any less than about 11 and a half volts under no load, it is pretty much done

you'll have to take it to a shop for a load test. I'm just talking under no-load. just measure from post to post with everything turned off. You can disconnect the positive post just to be sure there is no draw.

replace the battery. then test ur charging system. should charge around 13.2 to 14.6. if under 13.2 then u might also need a stator. could be putting out just enough to run lights when u rev it up

u need to buy a volt meter. when its idling connect the meter to the battery and see what the volts are. then rev it up a little, volts should climb a bit then level off. once back at idle the volts should be around 13.

check fuses and starter relay as well. it should click when you hit the starter button. if not check the fuses

Depending on the type of charger, yes, you are right in saying that the starter doesnt' have enough juice to turn it over. Check all your connections and then after cleaning them, use dielectric grease to keep them from corroding( see dielectric thread) Batteries typically last only about 5 years, this is just average some last forever others two weeks. so try charging it up and put a volt meter on it, if is bad you can actually watch the voltage drop ( all batteries will lose voltage its just how quickly that determines what state they are in.) Getting a new battery is your best bet, you know that the magneto is working or it wouldn't run at all.
