Son was plowing the driveway on a cold night. The quad started to backfire occasionally. He parked the quad. The next day it would not start. Pulled it in the shop changed the plug no difference. Checked the wiring still no spark. Thought it might be the pick up coil, so I tried to pull starter it sure enough spark. After that it worked with the starter everything was good. Test started it about ten times. Put everything back together and go to drive it out of the shop. No spark. Played this game for a few more times and finally pulled out the manual.I have done the following:
Checked the main and ignition fuses -
Replaced Battery

replaced sparkplug
spark plug cap resistance Specs 10 kΩ mine was 10.8 kΩ
Primary coil resistance Specs .18~0.28 Ω mine was 4.7 Ω
Secondary coil resistance Specs .18~0.28 Ω mine was 4.7 Ω
Tried coil and spark plug cap on a bruin 350 and it worked fine.

Checked the pickup coil and it was bad. (no resistence)
Replaced stator and pick-up coil with an aftermarket unit.
Pick up coil resistance Specs 459~561 Ω mine was 465 Ω (this is on the new unit)
Rotor rotational directional detection coil resistance Specs .104~.127 Ω mine was .9 Ω

Checked the Main switch and the kill switch. Good
Checked the ignition system wiring for continuity back to and from the CDI unit. All good.
Replaced CDI unit thinking that was the only thing left.

Still no spark.
Questions
Is the rotor rotational directional detection coil built into the stator?
Is the Resistance of the rotor rotational directional detection coil high and could that be my meter inaccuracy?

Any help would be appreciated
Thank you.
