Anyone ever have an issue with a family member or another parent.................You've have said no your child will not be participating.....for whatever reason.................and they keep at you !!!

Jesus today we had freezing rain, roads were horrid and accidents all over. Kiddo's Aunt wanted him go to West Edmonton Mall.........I texted her and said roads are horrid and if they choose to go he won't be going. PLAIN AND SIMPLE RIGHT !!!!! Nope apparently not..............for 2 hours I got texts, calls on my cell and work.........saying how they will drive slow, how sad kiddo is he won't be going..............blah blah blah. After the second NO you would think it would have sunk in !!! I have one child, and if I feel his safety is in danger he won't be going, plain and simple !!! Kiddo agrees roads were bad and understands my wanting to keep him home, safe. Yet tonight, she's texting him saying how he missed out on the fun they are having etc..............seriously who does this !!!!

Am in the wrong here ?!?!?!?

You are totally right to have said no. My X inlaws were the same way, it was always what they wanted and would try to guilt us into doing things we didn't want to do.

absolutely not. It seems that In today's society, No doesn't mean no. Hold your ground you are 100% right in your decision.

Instead of saying it here you should be saying it to her.
Ummmmmmmmmmm did you not read the post..............I did tell her NO numerous times, she obviously didn't hear or see it in the texts, kept begging. Then to have to nerve to text my son about the fun he was missing out on I thought was that wrong...........wanted other's opinions on the situation....did I handle it properly by not letting my only child go out on icey dangerous roads......is that wrong of me????

I was begining to think I was old fashioned in my thinking. I was brought up that when a parent says no, they mean it, end of story. I have had incidents with kiddo's friends, who want a sleep over instance, parent said no for whatever reason and I've always said to them Mom/Dad said no you have to respect that decision. I can see a child calling, texting etc a parent for over 2 hours, but not an adult with a child themselves. Kinda makes one question their decision at the time you know. Had I given in and something happened, I know I wouldn't be able to forgive myself.

We had to go into Spruce Grove yesterday and I only live about 20minutes away. Did not have to go till after lunch but if it had not started melting I would not have gone. Nothing is so important that would make me travel on ice roads. You did the right thing.

100% the right thing, i drove into work yesterday morning from west of stony to stony. holy fawk first time i have ever scared myself driving. i have drove Many Many miles and on less than spectacular roads, cutlines, bush trails, no trails etc. but when you have 2 sleds on the deck of your truck, going 60kph on the highway and you go across the highway 43 overpass looking at the gaurd rail it kinda makes you cheeks tighten a bit.
you did the right thing. i seen many vehicles in the ditch on the way in as well as a mini van that passed me near wabmun, was upside down in the middle of the road near stony, driver laying in the ditch unconcious, life is worth way more than any trip to the over rated wem. j/s hug your son and enjoy life. you did the right thing.

Woah, your sister (inlaw) sounds kinda like a douche.

One thing to text you, a total other to text the young one telling him how much fun they're having. That's super manipulative.

I would agree you made the right choice.

X2 It is one thing to badger you but quite another to use your kid against you. I have "family" members like that, I don't associate with them anymore. Don't need what a male bovine leaves behind after a big meal. Stick to your guns.

Sounds like Dear Auntie needs to be tuned in somewhat, no means no, and WTF why text the kid to torment him on what he missed? Is she that much of a twat?
