Yes banning random camping is seriously being looked at especially in yellowhead county. You might think its funny but I do not! People who disrespect the nearby landowners by making too much noise or are too immature to clean up their campsite before they leave, are the ones to blame, and are the first ones to whine when a privlage is taken away.
This has been in the works for a couple of years now, lots of people "squatting" and provincial campgrounds not collecting due to empty campsites. Go ahead keep up with your bad habits and being disrespectful, pizz enough people off and we all will be forced to camp in provincial campgrounds!

Living and camping where I do in the Hinton area, I couldn't agree more on the abuse (and the stupidity). Whenever we've left a back country camping area, it is always cleaner than when we got there. WITHOUT EXCEPTION. We would like to continue to camp in unserviced areas, but the jerks, morons, etc, etc are ruining it for all the responsible campers out there. My wife, kids, grandkids, and I have cleaned up more garbage, beer cans, and broken bottles than I care to remember in many of the areas that we like to camp. As much as it upsets me about possibly losing camping areas (just like losing sledding and quadding areas for the same reasons - trash !!!), it isn't going to change until all the mindless d!pshits realize what they're doing or the rest of us not only give them a tongue lashing combined with an azz kicking as well as reporting them to the authorities. Self policing is the only thing that's going to save our right to enjoy the outdoors.

And that right there folks is what we call democracy..................... Are u running cause u should be!! Sounds like u have some serious political potential.!!! Hahaha but really guy, peeps can vote for who they want and don't need someone telling them they are stupid. I'm sure some people are stupid but the majority I would think have done their homework and are making just as an informed vote as you!

I agree big waste I actually don't think one will do any better then the other!! So yes I agree waste of $$$$ We have free coffee at my work soooo I have about 50 old farts that come in and get in arguments about this Aaaaaallllllll day long!! None of them can back themselves up enough to have a real leading point!! So I think to each their own and thank goodness for the voting system or some of these guys would be fist fighting and breaking hips!!!

snowed all last night along the eastern slopes. should be a good day for riding on saturday. looks like onion lake will be another epic ride. we may have a few special guest riders. Bogger & company. we may need liver transplants. lots of snow on tuesday out west, with more new snow and the last ride of the year, should be over the top.

crown land is your land

I agree and don't understand how the Alberta Provincial government puts up signs (one near my house near 22X in Calgary) that says "Private Property, No Trespassing" and has a blurp about gov. of ab.

Does this mean Albertains can't go on this land, after all the government represents the people of that government?? Hey you Saskaberians they must be talking about you??

any of you heard anything about burnt timber ??? was wondering if they had the same thing going on but couldn't find it on that map, but all and all pretty simple. IF YOU MAKE A MESS CLEAN IT UP... then everyone can ride and have a great time.

Agreed, I don't know why people can pick up after themselves, The pack in what you pack out policy doesn't go away with the snow. Last summer my favorite squatting area was busy all summer, no prob I went somewhere else, but one time when this person left that squatting area he left the fire burning, had to pull in to put it out, and clean up the garbage he left!!!!:realmad:
This thread got off track with the politics talk, but in the end it's the people disrespecting their right to "random camp" on crown land, that is getting the attention of the politicans.

Not in this area, there are alot of provincial campgrounds in the Edson/Robb/Peers that are not full. A couple of times last summer I was the only trailer in the campground which doesn't bother me none, the peace and quite is really nice, with the exception of fickle and bear lake they are the most popular, and the hardest to get a spot in.

we used to live in hinton, I camped at Bear lake every summer for years. loved that place, used to get in trouble from Roger Merris (?) for my dad dragging me thru his slalom ski course....also used to catch ice cream pails full of perch off the dock. that place sure weeded up over the years.
