Nice kitty

Found this kitty while hunting last week. Thank god it was already dead. Still scared the crap out of me till I realized it was dead. It was dead for about 6-12 hours

It was for sure shot. we think by cougar hunters and they let the dogs have a taste and smell of it. I saw cougar tracks on the way in so I did realize there was one that was in the area in the last day or so

they took a hair sample from it. took pics of it. looked for a shell casing and took my statement. also said they are having a crazy busy season with lots of meat left in the bush. same day as this they were going to look at 3 dead white tails in a different area that were left out there. lots of illegal happening going on

Where you allowed to keep it? To bad it was killed just to be left behind.

There must have been a skiff of snow there a few days prior? What a waste.

i was not allowed to take it. I will go back in the spring and have a look. If the scull is there i will call the CO for a permit. There has been tons of predators out there in the past few years

Wow crazy find. Pretty sad people will just shoot an animal like that and leave it. I am a hunter and it blows my mind the stuff I see being done out there.

Nothing against ethical hunting but this makes me feel sad.

there is a season on it and maybe it was shot and it took off? could of happen. On the other hand that dead cat now means that it won't be killing a deer every week for food. so one less deer not killed per week adds up to many deer being able to reproduce even more deer. My own opinion is I am MORE than glad its a dead kitty as if it was alive it could of killed me in a heartbeat. so ya I'm still alive and that is a awesome thing.

Hmmmm. There is a cougar on my property and the deer population has definately declined in the last year.
I thought the hunters secret that there is a bunch of deer here got out. Maybe not. Possible Cougar buffet.
Will investigate further.

They are hard on deer and family pets. My brother lost a puppy to a cougar this summer.

A cougar eats 10-20 lbs of meat a day. So say average 3, maybe 4 deer a month per cat.....doesn't take long to add up

They are majestic and beautiful, but on the other hand how close to farms or rural population was it? If its feasting on livestock then unfortunately it will disappear. Any problem predator that gets fed comes back. Bear coyote etc. May not be pretty but it is a fact of life. Coyotes will sit at fence line and try and draw dogs out. Better they disappear than my dogs as far as I'm concerned

It's in the kinda rural area of the city. More city than rural.

Couple yrs ago in westlock area I seen a cow moose with bottom jaw hanging, called warden and said they were looking for it also. Someone with bad shot or just for the fff of it.
