Calgary ATV Riders is putting one on at McLean Creek this Saturday, see below. On a side note should the rally's proceed with these ideal fire conditions?


The Calgary ATV Riders invite you to attend the 9[SUP]th[/SUP] Annual Poker Rally on Saturday May 7[SUP]th[/SUP], 2016
Please be aware that the CARA Poker Rally is not a traditional Rally. All rides are club led due to permit constraints. Checkpoints are made during the ride at the ride leader’s discretion.

Time: Target for 10:30AM departure, Please arrive early to purchase your poker hands and gear up. Your waiver is attached, please print it, sign it, and bring it with you. (This will save valuable time at check-in)
Date: Saturday, May 7[SUP]th[/SUP], 2016
Location: McLean Creek OHV Area McLean Creek OHV area
Ride Levels: Family and Intermediate, Advanced groups
Ride destinations: Route is predetermined
Ride targeted duration: 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
BB-Q: Start time 4:00 PM Includes smokies, hotdogs, chips and hot chocolate and iced tea.
Poker Hand Prizes awarded at 4:00pm, (time will be confirmed during pre-ride speech)

NOTE*** Non-members and members who are not current in their CARA dues are welcome to attend but must purchase a minimum of 1 poker hand by each rider to participate.

Poker Hands available at registration. Each rider is asked to purchase at least one poker hand. Hands are $10 each or 3-for-$20. Poker-hand purchases close at ~10:00AM.
50% of the proceeds go to CARA club operations and stewardship events; the balance is paid out in the prize pool.
The prize pool is distributed 60%, 30% and 10% respectively for the top two (2) hands and the worst hand.

There will be a 50/50 draw as well. 1 for $5, 3 for $10 or $20 an arm length.

Ride levels:
Family: Speeds vary from 15-25km/h
Intermediate: Speeds vary from 25-40km/h
Advanced: Speeds vary from 35-60km/h
It is asked that each rider evaluate their skills and determine the ride level they are most comfortable with. Speeds are for all trail types (flat, rocky, hills etc.)

the date for the snow and mud jamboree will be releashed here on May 9 th Monday.... you have to camp and reserve a site at Outwest campground to take into the festivities on that weekend... no exceptions... and be a member on the the site... but i think it will be the second weekend in July again like last year....

the sundre rally for the firemans ride for Aug long i have not heard nothing on yet... im thinking it should go ahead like very other year... should hear soon on that one....

Saturday's McLean ride is cancelled to to province wide fire ban:

CARA Poker Rally has been Postponed

The Alberta Government has issued a Province wide Fire Ban. The government has also requested that the public avoid OHV use. The Calgary ATV Riders Association respectfully supports this request. The McLean Poker Rally scheduled for Saturday May7, 2016 will be postponed. Thank you for your cooperation. Don't forget everyone this list has a ton of Saskatchewan Rallys listed. So even though we can't ride in Alberta we can go to Saskatchewan.

Some sask rally's are being cancelled too. I've heard big river is cancelled, but the chitek lake one is still on.

With the forest all around Chitek Lake being tinder dry, this Rally in Chitek should be cancelled as well.....

I'm really surprised it wasn't since big river isn't too far away. I haven't been out there yet this year but was planning for this to be opening weekend for quadding. Might have to hurry up and get the jet skis going if the weather continues like this.

A customer heard East Metis or East Prairie Reserve is supposed to be having one end of August as well. Waiting to find out more info.
