118,000 km....well, that's hardly broke in! I would hope you've had no issues with those miles......
Come back and report when your more double that in kms.....then lets see what you've spent
I had to replace front brake pads on mine at 280,000 ish......absolutely nothing other than filters and fluids before that....GM, 1500, 6.2L
Currently at 383,000

and if you think this 2011 GM is a one-off truck....that I just got lucky with a reliable one, let me tell you more

I sold my previous 2008, 1500, 5.3L to my brother in law....he still has it....~350,000 kms, he had to replace ball joints....other wise still reliable, still going, no major issues or repairs...

The truck before that was a 2004 with a 6.0L. I sold that one to my son's buddy. Last I heard it was going strong at ~320,000. The trans was rebuilt at approx. 280,000 but that was because of human error.....son hit a deer in the middle of the night, seemed like not much damage other than busted grill....didn't notice the oil cooler was leaking...ran it dry ....so rebuild had to be done.
these are real stories...not some "I heard of a guy" stories.....

Bottom line of my rant....GM makes damn good reliable trucks.

Brake pad replacement is dependent on driver habits. Here's my take on this pissing contest, and that seems to be what this is... Some people can break an anvil, some people do absolutely nothing for maintenance, let their vehicle warm up, or run it over it's intended capacity (loads too heavy, etc). In any case, I've seen good vehicles from all manufacturers, and I've seen junk, too - this applies to everything with an internal combustion engine if it was assembled by man. Just traded in my wife's 2011 5.0L F150 which was trouble free other then maintenance over the course of it's life (120,000km), but it wasn't beat to rat chit hauling heavy loads or doing mach 9 down some oilpatch goat trail, either. The previous 02 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 had 380,000 on it with no issues, and still driven daily by one of my kids without issues. For what I do, a half ton isn't going to cut it, so I run a 1 ton SRW 4x4, and it has a Cummins in it, just like the last 5 pickups, with no issues to speak of on any of them that wasn't self induced, and I use mine to haul freight, tow holiday and equipment trailers, usually down some muddy or rough goat trail. To the original poster I can say that it is the luck of the draw - you can get good or bad in any brand. And people tend to be biased based on their own ownership choices - just ask the question "what's the best sled?" Chances are, the reply will be whatever they are currently riding...

Test drive them all and swing your best deal and enjoy... We work on them all, and one fella has a 2007 ram 1500 with 785,000kms on it, we service a chev 1500 5.3l with over 600,000kms, and a salesman with an f150 with 5.4l with 800,000kms(we did put an engine and rear diff in it. Lotsa tires, brakes, suspension repairs, but overall impressed with these. I have a friend with 500,000kms on a 1999 chrysler 300 and still his daily driver....... Just food for thought ;)

You won't know what you have till you see 1 million "MILES" +++,,, not that chezzy km stuff.

Lots of folks from Bentley Alberta all remember the 1976 two tone Gray GMC in 2 wdr. D Bedker...

It took alot of motors trannys, and rear ends to make it past the 2 million mile mark.

We have 2 units that are close too the million Mile mark too.

It would be a fat day in 4@!! If my 2005 dodge and 2012 Ford even make it to the 313.000 mile / 500.000 km mark.

Both are under testing as I try lots of ditch time with the peddle to the rug.

Don with tank half full,,, or is that empty.

338000km on my last ram with out any trouble... But I'm mega sticky on maintenance. Gm trucks are mechanically pretty sound from what I've seen, shop truck is a 2500 6l, 290k, wife's last Yukon was a 6l, burning oil like crazy at 275k, current one ok still at 220, just eats electrical components. 2 alternators and a bcm and 2 park sensors in 3 years (all gm parts). I just find them to be A:squeaky and cheap feeling inside, and B:way too small for me to sit comfortably (over 6'3")
Much more head and leg room in my ram.
My professional opinion is that all the truck brands are equally chitty and good, except the 2007-13 gm's. They were a truly half hearted build, at least from the body side of things. Probably because they were declaring bankruptcy while designing it. Mechanically near identical to the previous generation.
My wife goes thru tires and brakes at near triple the speed I do, regardless of what she drives. It's a driver thing, not a truck thing. Buy the truck that gets you hard. They all make lemons.

My thoughts exactly... Thats why i drive older trucks. Cheap to repair, and im not stuck making $500 a month payments and not scared to use it as a truck

500 a month maybe if you are going over 12 years lol. The price of new trucks these days you will be paying 1000 plus a month easy! That too is why I drive my old cummins with 380000km. It's paid for and does everything a new truck does. I fix it once in awhile but guys end up fixing new ones to. I will keep my old truck and use the money to enjoy life a bit more!

Mechanical issues are rare with any of the new trucks. Electrical issues are what scare me.

I've had 4 Rams with Cummins. Everyone seems to be better and better built, but I have 120K on this one and haven't touched it. Front end was inspected last week and is still well within any spec.

We also have a 95 2wd 3500 with the 5.9 Cummins with 1.63 mKm. It's had tranny rebuild a number of times, injectors, front ends. Motor was opened at 1mKm to redo main bearings, etc. Still sounds as sweet as the day we bought it at the auction with 390km on it! :)

Buy what you like..you're the one who has to pay for it.

Boy I dunno about that, buddy of mine has a valve service truck, had a 08 f550 6.4 that was a pos

Got a new Dodge 550 service truck and said it's a gutless p.o.s, uses fuel like a mad man, has been in the shop more for engine ( def, trans, wiring issues) in 20000 km than the hole time with the Ford

If he thinks the ford and dodge are both pos what does he think is good then? Some have wiring and def issues albeit it's pretty rare as with any new diesel, but gutless? Not a chance. Depending on gearing in rear end and what you use it for, but they are pretty good on fuel considering what it is. If you expect the same fuel economy as a 3500 you'll be disappointed because it's a much heavier truck and geared for towing/hauling. If he just has a small service body on it with 4:88 gears, then it's the fault of whoever bought the wrong truck, those gears are only for one that is going to spend most of it's life hooked up to a heavy trailer, and yea fuel economy will be awful if you aren't working it. Pulling my 21k gooseneck my 5500 gets virtually the same mileage as my 3500 does, not to mention doing a much better job of pulling it and it's not even broke in yet. A lot of issues with the trucks are ID10T errors. Most people treat stuff like chit if they are just an employee and wonder why stuff breaks. The reliability of a truck driven by the owner compared to an employee is astronomical on average....

Appreciate the help guys. I may have found a truck.. 2013 2500 ram, downside is it's a gas pot but about $15,000 less than a diesel would be.

Take it for a long drive before buying. Some have vibrations like crazy some don't. I had 3 different vibrations with my 2014 6.4 hemi 3500. The 3 dodges I had before that one were great. Most of the time they are great trucks, just make sure you drive for an hour at all speeds and 4 cyl mode before buying.

Still researching everything unfortunately. Is the Tundra that much more reliable than the rest but gets ****ty fuel economy? To me they look outdated (interior and exterior) and are overpriced but I see lots for sale with old diesel miles 450k plus. Anything has to be better than the previous fords I've had!

2 weeks ago, I sold my 05 F 350 HD diesel. I loved that truck and it was a good 6L.

I bought a used 16 Chevvie Silverado LT True North Edition Crew Cab. I do like the truck......... smooth ride, super quiet and holy phuck good on gas!!!
My first tank I babied and got 776 kms to 91 liters of reg gas.
This tank, I'm hammering on the throttle Harder!!! and should get around 650K to 90 liters.

I'm going to get a fibreglass hard cover tonnue cover and that might effect the mileage???

It's funny how many complain about the fuel mileage on the tundras. I have a 2013 and average 12.2L per 100k around town and have been in the high 10s on the hwy. In the last year I have had 2 rental trucks while mine was in the shop for a hit and run claim and then a rodent ate up my engine wiring harness. One was a 2016 dodge with the 5.7 and the other was a 2017 f150 with a 5.0 and when I had to fill them up before returning the ford was a little better than mine and the dodge was about the same. The tundra does get thirsty when towing, a trip up the coq with my 18' enclosed with 2 rzrs inside and the mileage drops to 22L per 100. My biggest complaint with mine is the small fuel tank, with the low fuel light is on it only takes 75L to fill unlike the 100L plus north american trucks.

i LOVE MY TUNDRA!!!. I have a 08 and never had issues. I load it up with firewood, beat the crap out of it hunting and it has a sled in the back all winter.

My buddy has owned his 2008 tundra since new and has had zero issues. He loves everything about that truck except the small fuel tank. I drove it this summer when we were riding in grande cache and I have to admit it drives very nice. The newer tundra I understand has a larger fuel tank but I could be wrong. If they do, it sounds like they addressed the only complaint that tundra owners have...

The 2nd person that showed interest, bought it. It was the Harley edition, 100% stock and color match canopy, had 160K and I got 13,000 for it.
Might have been able to get more, but I don't play well with tire kickers.............. ;)
