Yah those suitcase wire feeders that use the gas driven current suck. Used a few and never could get them to run nice. Not bad if you are running big 1/16” flux core but not if you are trying to do nice mig welds. Be cheaper and will weld nicer if you bought a small mig welder that runs on 220.

Miller/Hobart make a decent one. It’s 220 or 110.

I got the Hobart 210 handler with an aluminum spool gun. The steel welds awesome and burnt lots of roles of wire through it trouble free. It basically a miller it’s the exact same machine. That being said I would take a Lincoln of a miller seen less issues with miller. But both welders are nice and will be good. One other nice thing about the Hobart is princess auto sells them so you can get tips and stuff any day of the week. Lincoln is harder to get parts for mostly welding supply places. But now with KMS tools you probably can find parts there for them. Do your self a favour and price out the miller with pulse mig (can’t remember the model). But the pulse will be much nicer to weld with over straight mig. It will be more money but if you decide to weld aluminum with it ever you will be thanking yourself you spent the extra. Come to think I should sell my Hobart and get myself that pulse unit.

Just for hobby and repairs use, but looking to experiment with more aluminum. Currently just have a basic Lincoln 180 and a spool gun.

Looks like a good little home machine, I was supprised to see AC Tig. The pulse is DC Tig only, not sure how much you would use that. Also cool that it has dual gas input, thats a solid feature for a small machine.

Looks like real nice machine! Not sure what the pulse DC tig is about? But would weld aluminum with the ac tig.

If you're wanting something to do everything along with the convenience of being portable, look at the MillarMatic 220. It can do everything including AC Tig - for aluminum. I bought mine last fall, and have really liked it so far. It will work on light gauge material plugged into 110V, but works best on 220V. They're pricey, but you'll be happy to have spent the extra cash when it comes time to use it.

The 215 Miller is another good option for home use. Couple process options and more that 22-2500 range

I havnt bought a welder in over 10 years, bought 3 in a short period of time, bought a Millermatic 251, paid 2600 if I remember correct, a Trailblazer 301, paid about $4500 and a hypertherm 1000, that was around 2900. Things have gone up just a bit I guess.

My 252 was $2100 when I got it. Has had 13 rolls of .045 wire and on my 3rd .035 thru it.
Different whip is only thing as the .045 was usually burned at 28.5 volts 375-400 wire speed

yes, when I got mine I bought a Bernard whip right off the bat, the stock whips suck. My most common settings are either 450 imp and 27.5 volts or 275 ipm and 22.5 volts using .045 E71T and a 75/25 mix gas. The first setting works great on flat welds for me, the 2nd out of position. Most of the welding is equipment repairs. Gotta love the sound of flux core wire in spray mode, the bacon is justa frying!

That 220 AC/DC is a sweet machine, I looked at real hard when I bought my Lincoln Squarewave 200. But since I already had a Miller 211 with spool gun, I only needed the stick and tig functionality.
