Just bought a new to me 850 with 1600 Klms on it I hope it’s not a belt eater. All recalls are done. Anyway of telling signs that it may go thru belts. Thx. Got it from bow ridge in cochrane. Looking forward to testing it out. Suppose to be a fun machine. Still has 2 years warranty left so should be good

other than looking for belt dust or fragments of belt no way to tell if previous owner went thru belts. i have not gone thru belts myself and have rode with 1/2 dozen other gen4 that did not have issues. enjoy your new ride

We've had 3 G4's (2 '17's and 1 '18) from Bow Ridge and not one belt was blown. I am presently waiting for a '91. Their tech is top notch and their set-up is great.

I take out the foam and put some 1/2" dia. holes in the CVT that seems to help with the cooling. I think you will be fine.

Did u trade one in. This one has 1/2 holes drilled on it. May be your old machine

Heres what you need to do. #1 get yourself a brand new belt #2 take the clutches off the machine and have them serviced either by yourself or someone that knows what they are doing. #3 service the chaincase oil, and while you are in there make sure your gearing is at 2.52.#4 Go to grip n rip / or a dealer for grip n rip and get yourself their arftermarket motor mounts, as well as aftermarket engine torque stop and install #5 purchase yourself some extra vents for the clutch tower side panels and install in the front side of shock tower and back side of clutch panel so the air move THROUGH the machine, no on the outer side of the panel. #6 get yourself a clutch kit from a reputable clutch tuner as you want to make it as efficient as possible so to minimize eccess heat. #7 clean and blow out both primary and secondary clutches, clean sheaves, install clutch kit and put back in machine #7 check you clutch alignment and correct if necessary #8 ride the bag off of it #9 i drink miller high life, have a sick season!

No I didn't. Our sleds are not low mileage sleds and we take a beating trading them in. I understand where the dealer is coming from and hold no grudges. It is a tough business.

I would venture to say that other than the Grip an' Rip braces, Bow Ridge would have seen that all that mountainsledmania suggested was done.

Just a blown motor but the belt was ok.

That is an opinion, what I would do is just ride it and have fun, keep everything clean and make sure the chain is proper tension. All I would add to a 17 or 18 is the Ski-Doo vent kit for the 850 its 90.00 and comes with vent kit and new cvt cover and all material to install, it is at cost. Enjoy the ride. If you ask the same thing on an older Polaris, you will get a similar answer to this from someone on that forum as well.

if it has the updates done then i would do the brp vent cover , for the chain adjuster i would paint pen itand watch it closely, for my adjuster would back out while riding, i drilled a hole in the head of the bolt adjuster and installed a clevis pin, no problems after that with chain always being loose.then drive it and enjoy
