I have friends that have both, and they like either one. The one's the have a Rav4, they preferred over the santa fe. Do to having a better towing capacity, both suv's have been great to them. Good luck with your decision.

I would say Toyota all the way. But I do love Toyota's. We just bought the wife an 09 highlander a few months ago. And love it so far. She was driving an 09 corrola that we bought new. My commuter for work is a 1998 Camry with 320,000 kms. Runs like a dream. I'm hoping to run that car for a few more hundred kms.

Owned 2 Veracruzs, the 08 was very good the 2010 had a few electrical gremlins. The sante fe has different electrical system. I would go Toyota over Hyundai.

Not to add more choices, but have you looked at a VW Tiguan? My mom has one and she loves it, 200hp turbocharged 2.0, AWD, and gets 8-10L/100km average.

If your looking at the Santa fe you would be better off looking at the kia Sorrento. They are brother and sister but the Sorrento is a full boxed framed buggy unlike the santa fe unibody frame.

I remember when all the 4nJunk was just that...junk. nowadays they are the nicest on the road.I would buy a kia or Hyundai....or even a suzuki if I were shopping.

Sister had one and same. Loved the diesel and power but cost of owner ship was stupid.
Dealer required services where out of this world for costs.
Sold it at 80000 Kms .

My mom has had Hyundai SUVs for the last 9 years. The reason why I know it's been 9 years is they have to buy a new one as soon as the warranty runs out. She never been stranded but they all have had electrical problems. Radio won't turn on, windows won't roll down, electric seats etc etc. they def used the cheapest electrical components they could find. The dealer is also 1.5 hours away so it's a pain in the azz I keep telling them to buy a ford since the small town dealer is under ten min away.

I have a 2003 RAV4, standard, absolutely love it, fantastic in winter, good gas mileage, excellent quality, has over 320000kms on it, we are second owners and the previous owner kept it top notch. Hubby bought a 1 year newer, loves the vehicle but wants an automatic( got it for a very good price, so bought it even though he dislikes standard) When mine is dead I intend to get another one. Also going to try and talk my parents into one(automatic).
