Skinz has released a new product just in time to be included in your summer time mods. The Air Frame running board. Constructed of aluminum and available in black or polished (custom colors available). Ice studs for footing are not installed (shipped loose) which allows you to install as many as you want and where you want them. (Correctly sized drill bit included) Mounts to stock locations.

yes, seen them on dootalk. Thought I read $500, look sweet, I'm thinking of some for the XP

XP tunnel is kinda weak already - what are the thoughts on taking more material out of it? I realize the boards will add some strength back in but I'd almost be concerned about it bending at the attachment points on the XP, especially for the bigger guys.

Thoughts?

Being all tubular the boards will most likely for all applications be stronger than stock.
When mounting you cut a flange along the side of the tunnel which the inside of the Air Frame board mounts to. With the flat portion of the board cut away and the new tubular board mounted in the 90 degree bend which is probably the strongest part of the tunnel, you should end up stronger than stock.
On a older Summit we had, the first thing that bent with me on it was was the right hand side running board along the outer edge of the running board. The 90 degree bend at the tunnel for the running board on the sled never bent. Just the flat portion and the outer edge of the running board.
For the record for those whom have not met me in person, I definitely fit in the heavy weight class for sledders. We'll be doing some installations most likely on a Nytro and maybe a M sled later on this summer once turnaround season is over. We'll post up detailed installation and board deflection pic's with myself on board at that time.
At this time the boards are only available in the Ski Doo line from Skinz are for the XP's.
The Skinz light weight seats at this time are available for the M sleds, Nytro's and another new release with a model for Polaris. We have not yet received anything nor heard of any Skinz seat product for Ski Doo unfortunately.

Speaking of Polaris here is pic of the new Skinz Seat;

Skinz put alot of thought into manufacturing and designing these running boards they are ergonomically designed to allow a natural foot position. The last thing anyone wants while out on a trip is a foot being caught up resulting in a broken ankle or worse. They have been doing product testing on these boards for the past year and felt they have finally got it to a point where it is ready to be put on the market. The slats are running at a 45 degree angle from the tunnel to allow for maximum amount of snow off the boards while at the same time allowing as much of your boot as possible to be in contact with the slats when your foot is in a forward position. The slats are angled out back to front, when riding in the wrong foot forward position your natural foot position is toe in towards the tunnel, the slat spacing like this will prevent your foot rolling into the gaps. You will notice that alot of boards on the market have the slats running at a 90 degree angle out from the tunnel the 45 degree angle dramatically cuts down the chance of a boot slipping into the gap. Their is a 2 inch gap between each slat. It is a fine line between allowing alot of snow off the boards while maintaining the structural integrity of the board and keeping the riders foot in a safe position.

Where can I get a set if those for a 2008 M1000 how much they cost?

Hi Taz

You can get these babies right from us! They are currently on the production floor, as they are a new product, so we are looking at a 4 to 6 week manufacture lag.

You would also need to get a Skinz tunnel conversion kit to mount these on your 2008. We would need to know the length of your tunnel to give you pricing on that but the boards will be $449.95 USD.

Take care

Jan
