You clearly don't have much seat time on the XM to make a statement like that.

Bottom line the pro rmk is a good sled and would be my second choice as a mountain sled. But in reality it's a poor product in comparison to the XM. Fit and finish of the rmk is "fisher price" compared to the XM. The engine lacks horsepower and anyone who says the XM does not perform 10+hp better than the pro rmk hasn't done enough testing. The skidoo XM pops up ontop of the snow like no other machine I have ridden. Yes the rmk does this much better than the cat but it does not pull itself out of the deep snow like a 16 wide sled with good power and the effective low end clutching of the Etec. More benifits like the 16 wide track ( let's face it we are buying mountain sleds trying to float on 3 feet of snow don't kid yourself a 15 wide track belongs on the trails). The Etec power plant has proven durable and is extremely clean and efficient. I can fire 3 of them up in y enclosed trailer and they make less smoke than a cat or pro rmk at idle. Fuel consumption on the Etec is second to none and oil consumption is very good. Not any better at full throttle all day but of you have a mixed day it will barely go down on the reservoir. The summit model sleds now come with a 2.5" proven design track which is basically a replica of the camo extreme. Everyone and there dog puts the camo extreme 2.5 on there sleds as an upgrade including pro rmk owners so why not buy the sled that comes with one from the factory? Save yourself 1500$ right there. The XM is truly the only mountain specific sled on the market. The pro rmk is a stretched trail sled like all brands were up until 2013 with the release of the skidoo XM. The t motion skid and flex track are innovations brought to the mountain segment exclusively and they WORK. The running boards are mountain specific and work wonders. Haven't had to clear my boards all year. Some other features I like about the XM is the warm glove box in the front. Keeps my electronics warm and they work much better and are easily accessible for those moments when you need it right now. Black coated tunnels are very sharp. Pro rmk gets boring aluminum color. One of the key differences is the way the steering system works on the two machines. One steers flat and one moves with your body. The way the flat pro rmk steering functions it works against you for backcountry riding and is not ideal. It is made to work but it is not correct for technical riding. But in reality tons of people like this setup so really I urge you to ride both and see which one feels comfortable to you. If your in valemount drop me a line you can try out my XM. And yes contact Trent at Martin south side he will take care of you if you decide to sway towards an XM. My group picked up 4 XM this season and no issues his far other than the recall which was not a problem for us. The XM will pull your arms off and keep tractoring up the hill like a goat. The sled just works and will get you back to the truck at the end of the day. 3000+km for me this season on the XM and loving every minute. I still shake my head when I look down and see where this machine has taken me.

Very well put Sean.

I still stand behind my statement that I made about the Poo power plant; the more miles, the more problems. Top ends, sort of like the 800R's, are on the horizon after the 2500-3500 km mark, where as the Etec is not an issue and if it is, there is a 4 year warranty. With the high milers, that could be in the range of 12,000 to 16,000 kms and the motor is still covered. Anybody that thinks the Poo power plant can last that long is dreaming.

Kidder17, IMHO, you didn't get flamed. You got schooled! There is a difference.....:yo:

to be honest with you i have not ridden a 13 pro yet but i have a hard time believing they get up on the snow like a hovercraft !!Why do so many poo owners ditch there stock track if there sled gets up on the snow so well? The XM rides on top of the snow all day long....maybe not as good as the Poo but i doubt it.Nobody has a stronger motor than Doo !!!4 yr warranty!!can't beet that!!I wouldn't believe stuff on the internet either and the pro isn't as good as people make em sound..even if the polaris sleds had no issues ie driveshaft ,a-arms,belt on the cvt ...lack of HP motor...the DOO was and still is a better sled. Reliability is a huge issue and skidoo has that along with performance.
So you havent ridden one yet your bashing one? hmm I think they are both equal and awkward as hell when switching from an xm to a pro and vice versa. the pros and cons of both sleds are the same even the cat is a sick machine as much as i hate admitting it. I would ride any of the 3 if it was a smoking deal and under warranty. another thing to factor is if your buddies ride the same brand that is a bonus for troubleshooting problems in times of need. a good dealer is very important aswell noone wants to drive a long distance for parts and service. Get a sled and get shredding!!!

Im in the same boat as you, im a polaris guy, ive seen what the xm and pro can do, road a pro, use to the pros riding style.

Half my riding group rides pros half xms so i wont be the odd one out. Heres what i see

XM: Pros

Great motor
Adjustable clickers in primary
better cooling
great warranty
great re sale

Cons:

not use to the chassis
not use to the steering

Polaris pro Pros:

great chassis
gets on the snow well
use to steering
use to chassis
i have a poweder keg for this chassis, and handle bar bag and other polaris stuff

Cons:

Possible motor issues +1500 miles
bad re sale
Possible still drive belt issues
less cooling than im use to, have to run scratchers alot (compared to my std rmk with bulkhead cooler and wheel kit)

Really only thing holding me back is the ski-doo chassis which i will get use to, just as i did from my edge to my iq. Change is good, i changed from gmc to dodge, every gm guy said why you switching to that junk, but i love every minute of driveing my dodge compared to my gmc.... Im sure this will be the same. Variety is the spice of life.

Id say try both and go with the one you like. All three are so close now its just a matter of preference. Pick the chassis that you like the best, and the dealer you feel you will get the best service from. All three have their plus and minuses. I think Doo has the slight edge right now when it comes to reliability and fit and finish. I ride with all three though and they are all great sleds.

So after three years, which Polaris gives, and you are still ridding ( which I doubt) the sled, did you know there are companies, IWS is the one I have, that for a grand I got two more years of warranty that is transferable when I sell my sled this summer, have a couple guys interested cause the warranty is good till March 14. So, good dealer, good warranty, happy sledder! Doesn't need to last 16000 if I get a new one every few years, got a warranty the whole time, dealer gives loaners. So like others have said, ride them all, get a good dealer and when in doubt, pin it!

if bashing them means doubting that they get up on the snow so good and then stating the obvious facts..ya i guess i am.I could care less who manufactures the sled i ride ,i just happen to believe that the SKI-Doo is the hands down better sled. Some people find there own two feet awkward !!!!Doesnt mean there is anything wrong with their feet!!Just means they aren't very good at walking....some people !!!!

At what point is anyone gonna mention rider? Just because you bought it doen't mean Shat! Living and ridding here I see guys on 01's that ride the track off guys on brand new ones! Always makes me laugh when guys are posting about "things to do to my sled, I have 400 miles...." Dam it ride the thing. I have only been at this 17 years, but the changes I have seen! You used to HAVE to be a GREAT rider, now??? Blame the machine seems to be the solution? We all see it every ride, look at NASCAR, they all have the same basic car by rule yet some guys are lapped three times! Are you pinning it or a little scared? Buy what you like, ride what you like.

Opinions are like azzholes and there are lots of azzholes on here. Ride them both and decide for yourself. Personally I like the XM and think the value for the money is better. Ie. more technology in the motor, better track, fit and finish feels better. Also they hold their value better since they still sell for msrp at the end of the season whereas Polaris blows out the Pro for $10900. I would be choked if I spent $15-$16k on a snowcheck and then some guy waited two months longer and only paid $11k.

Typical doolaid drunk response no experience with the sled but bash it anyway cause that's what the rest of the doo loyal doo lol love my 13 pro does every thing I want it to with no effort awesome sled imo. The xm seems like it is a great sled personally just don't like the steering setup which is why I would never buy one well without changing the steering but in the end I have no experience with the xm so I can't bash it so I'll just continue to bash the drunk doolaid boys have lots of unwanted experience with them haha j/k

I had the same question the beginning of the season and all I can say is get seat time on both and choose the one you like that fits your riding style and wallet the best. Good luck bud! Either way snowchecking a new sled is SUPER exciting!!! :D

An actual reply to the question..

I've ridden both.. all with different suspension set ups. Both sleds "jump" out of the snow great and climb like tarzan chasing after some tree pussy.

If you want either to climb well tighten up the suspension.. if you want to wheelie they will do that as well.

They both look aggressive. . Imho.. and one may look better due to your opinion.

You won't be disappointed in either.

It will be my new baby. :) I will probably tear up when I first lay sight on her.

Already tearing it apart in my mind to change the bars and riser and get all the parts off that I'm anodizing and powder coating. :D :D
