New polaris dealer in rocky mountain house

Spoke with polaris they said that the market could handle one rocky. As far as those other dealers a little compition might be good for them. My area would be Rocky and west.

get it done, if your competitive you'll do ok, lots of outdoor activities in the area. the previous dealer had a lot of inventory he was carrying. if you stock parts ( high wear items) for the most popular machines you should be good. maybe do a tour of the more succesful dealerships and see what they stock or are doing, see where you can provide better service or pricing.

if you don't try it, you will always be saying what if. successful people generally don't listen to the nay sayers.

yeah that may be true, they will still call for pricing etc, you will make sales if you are in the ball park, can repair machines on time and fast, i'm sure polaris owners will go a long way for a good dealer.
ask a lot of questions of riders you see on the trails visit a few shops and ask them a few questions good or bad at that dealer. you can't go wrong with good quality mechanics, parts in stock, questions being answered, maybe asking yourself what P U off at other dealers and do it better. you must be a people person, or forget it.

Ok, i go back to 1995, when i got my membership at wilderness village, i dealt with the polaris dealer at that time in rocky... they where going broke and hired Doug to revive the company.. He did just that.. He took that popo dealership to new heights and gave 150% customer service, even on weekends when needed on a call basis.. i bought from them, just cause of the service.. Doug rewarded me with competing for him in the local Rocky Mud bog the first year the 700 came out.. He brought into Canada, the first 700 sportsman, when it came out.. i was going to put it thru its paces in the pits.. i also competed with my 500 HO i had at the time. got a first with the 700 and a second with my 500 in the bogs and got 2 nd in the tractor pull with the 700. did'nt entry my 500 in the pull.. since i was ridin for extreme at the time, my entry fee was taken care of and i walked away from there with 300 buck! lol...

Then things went bad, Doug was not there any more and the dealership went up in smoke (broke) in a short time.. Doug opened rainy creek and him and his daughter run it quite well.. i do see Doug the odd time.. last time was at the jamboree last year at outwest and he let me take his 900 for a boot where we had lunch with turple brothers in the poper rally.

Many go from Rocky to rainy creek.. especially from the campground.. Doug has made many friends in Rocky, along with airdrie, calgary and edmonton.

There is no doubt that Doug runs a good show and is a straight shooter but there is always going to be the convinience thing. I ran polaris sleds all my life but with the new cat dealer moving in last fall i switched over to cat as it is so much easier to drive a few blocks for parts rather than haul ass out to Ecville. If there was a dealer here that was honest trustworthy, had competitive prices and stocked lots of parts it would fly for sure.

It takes alot of cash to do this. A friend of mine has been in business with a small shop for a year now. Repairs, parts, and sales. Overhead and wages are the big thing. They looked at buying into a brand name but the cost up front was staggering. So they stayed small and it's paying off. They are moving into a bigger and better location this weekend. It will be a long road but I'm sure a brand name will be in the showroom one day.

Maybe a Sunday morning drive to rocky to buy a hammer and punch. Sad thing is I have the spider and jam nut sockets at home in fort Saskatchewan. Never again will I leave home without the top portion of my tool crib.

Rocky desperately needs a Can Am Dealer but a Polaris dealership that close to Eckville would be risky as hell. Rainy Creek has built a very loyal customer base and a ton of people drive from Red Deer to Eckville for the difference in service. Rainy Creek is not just one of the best Polaris dealers but probably the best dealership I have ever dealt with and that opinion is shared by many. Attempting to compete with that kind of reputation is not something I would put my money behind. A ton of people hate Turple Bros though and I would drive to Rocky to avoid dealing with them and there is a gaping hole with Can Ams out west. Lower caliber of competition and less of it seems like a much safer bet especially with the popularity of can Am in Alberta.

With BRP and their BS not going to see a dealer in RMH soon IMO, they wouldn't even support the one in Olds
