I disagree...As the CURRENT owners of XL the Nillsons will be responsible for any lawsuits...the sale details are as follows from the announcement

"Upon exercising the exclusive option to purchase the above assets, JBS USA agrees to pay USD $50 million in cash and USD $50 million in JBS S.A. shares," said the company's news release.
"Under no scenario will JBS USA assume any of XL Foods' debt or liabilities."

Huh, I read a news report yesterday that said differently. Guess it was wrong.

Hey you might have read it right...there are 20 stories a day here in the Hat it seems, and each one a bit different...Nobody wants all the temp workers coming here looking for jobs LOL

Never thought I'd say it, but i don't want them to leave. I want Lakeside to fire up and get there cattle out of our yard. We have some VERY good contracts coming up in the middle of November.

I would think definitely in the short term this will be a good thing if it gets things moving at xl. I would be very surprised that with it being American our border troubles will disappear at least while the US numbers are down. As for the loss of a Canadian owed company, I really don't think that matters anymore, Nillsons weren't doing the Canadian cattle industries any favors. And we're quickly becoming there own monopoly..

They were a monopoly. They controlled a good portion of Alberta's processing capacity. Not sure on exact numbers but I think between 50-75%. Their only real competitor being Cargill in high river.

Also didn't appreciate them giving people better deals to use Roberge. Not that I have anything against Roberge. We have used mostly their trucks since Grace cut their number of trucks and trailers way back.
