If a ban on AR rifles comes (as it sounds like it's going to) it would only affect firearms that are based upon or a derivative of ARmalites design. Currently all AR-15 firearms are restricted in Canada, without exception.

Ken, I think the misconception is that AR stands for anything but Armalite. When the rumor that the Turd/Blair or planning on banning AR-15 rifles they aren't talking about "automatic rifles" rather a specific type of firearm based upon Armalites original design. There is always the chance they may group other semi's in with the ban as well. If anyone here reading this has a restricted PAL and no AR, get one or a stripped lower while you can.

Thin edge of the wedge. It started with all the 12.6 etc. AR's will be next, then semi's and handguns, pumps and levers to follow. Firearms owners are like OHV enthusiasts, only small groups make noise and contribute, the rest are apathetic. Something like 50K people belong to CSSA, NFA etc. out of 2.2 million licensed gun owners in Canada.

I am a member of the NFA now for 3 years. Its kind of like the Go Fund Me page to save our riding areas in Revy and Sicamous. The apathetic ones won't donate to help the fight yet will be the loudest whiners when we lose the areas. Same with guns. Can't get anyone I know to join the NFA to fight the government. They figure someone else will do it for them I guess?

Some of those guns may not be true AR's but are close depending how they were configured. TheCZ-858 is already a banned gun in Canada I believe. Probably because of the mosque shooting.

The story behind the cz858 is 2007 and newer models the manufacturer was running low on parts so they were taking full auto receivers and making them into semi auto which technically is against our Canadian laws but pretty minor.

AR 15 is already banned.... You need a restricted license to own one and you are vetted everyday on computer, they know where it is....they treat criminals better then that.Assault weapons are banned only police have them( full auto).....all magazines are pinned to 5.the biggest growing demographic for shooting handguns is women...all this is a political smoke show for the dummies.

Used to belong to NFA, a few dealings in the past and the latest lawsuit against the CCFR by the NFA sealed the deal. CSSA and CCFR are better organisations IMO. Be nice if they could all band together and have one large lobby group like the US has in the NRA.
