Picked up an 03 800 151" this summer and just getting ready to take it out in a couple weeks to Valemont... Bit of a mystery tho as I've been looking at pictures of other machines online and all of them seem to have a shiny silver heat shield on the pipe while mine has a fairly nice looking blue heat shield? I got no history on the machine when I bought it so have no clue what's been done to it...

Jetting... Is the Polaris manual fairly accurate? I'm thinking 390 or 410 should cover most anything I'll come across in valemont but would like some input... I'm pretty inexperianced playing with jets so a bit of help would be appreciated.

that is a stock heat shield and they do rust the last owner just painted it so it looked better why blue and not black might be a special heat paint

Thanks for that, I was looking at the curve from the head and the pipe looks stock just was not sure if at some point a previous owner might of had it modded or repaired... Honestly I'm too bloody busy to dig much deeper into it myself...

Now to find some jets

Look into a holtzman ataac, what i ran with my 03 at 2200ft back home and up in vale, never had to re-jet and ran great.

You can usually find them on kijiji etc for cheaper.

New throttle cable on order to replace the wrong one previous owner stuck in it, I adjusted the current cable to get the oil pump allmost back where it should be... Burned half a tank of oil to the cabin on Renshaw and back

next problem... This thing is a turd... I have 135psi on both holes and my 600 pro walks all over it...
At 1/2 throttle and above it seems to cut out, pulled the plugs and the mag side is nice and tan but the PTO side is fouled.... I dropped the needle clip 1 spot to see if a bit more fuel would change anything but it just made things worse as I expected it to do, played with the fuel screw on the carbs and had no effect on the cutting out so looks like I've got some electrical gremlin or maybe a bad coil.... Looks like I've got more tinkering to do... But it did make it to the cabin and back on its own steam so I'll put a bit more effort into bringing this ole girl back to life.

I would check that the spark plug caps are screwed onto the wires securely. If you have enough slack in the wires you could unscrew the cap and cut 1/4" off the wire and reattach.

Ive got a new coil assembly on its way rite now, one of the leads has a nick in the insulation and the boots themselves aren't looking so hot after 13yrs of service.... I'm going to also pull the carbs when the throttle cable shows up and show em some love... And find something smaller than 450 mains to put back in em :-o

Haha... Ya pipes are awsome on these Ive been told by a few old sled bums that rocked the Edge/Escape for a long time... This one is just a ditch banger and I might not do much with it besides tune it up and sell it... See if it grows on me... I have a 14 pro 600 and my sights set on a 17 Doo or Axys... This sled will be redundant by next fall...
