isnt that usually part of getting the casino licenece is that they have to give something back to the community
like they can donate for trail upgrades and grooming !!!!!!!
I seriously doubt that they would give much money for snowmobiling

This is me, not VARDA speaking,
but I like the idea of a Casino to start the growth. We need jobs in this town and the Casino talk has brought discussion of a good number of well paying jobs, which is currently what we need. After a few years the Casino will just be another part of the town and offer another activity, it does not have to be the soul of the community.
I think we should look at is as a viable, money making business that can jump start growth and other future development. There are many lurkers looking at Valemount from the outside and waiting for someone to make the first step, and I think Sass Fee can make this first step and be very successfull (with a good main renter) and will lead, while others will soon follow.
I support the idea of the Casino as a starting point, but I also believe our mountains, outdoor aventure and our unique community will shine above, and the proposed Casino will just be another tool in getting our community and its occupants back on their feet.
Heres hoping........

Well, the construction mortgage documents are being signed this week. That means retail sales will start shortly. They obtained financing for the entire project, rather than doing it in two phases. They may still break the project into two parts in hopes of pre-selling the first part to pay for the second (to avoid some interest charges).
They believe the have the parking issue solved by making it an uncovered area with bigger access points. I am just waiting to see what the final prices will be for each floor plan to decide if I am in or not.
I will post the prices as soon as I get them.
Definitely needed for the towns sake, but I suspect $300K for a condo in Valemount is going to be a tough sell.
