It's becoming very real now. What a large project! Keeping our fingers crossed that the snow gives us a bit more time. Most of the materials are now on site and the hard work has begun.

We are still accepting donations for this build. We need all of the help that we can get. All donors over $100 will be recognized on a plaque inside the Tony Parisi Memorial Shelter. Donations can be sent via paypal, etransfert to info@ridevalemount.com or good old fashioned cheque.

Hold off on that snow dancing for a bit yet please!

just curious why all the digging. Looks like its going on concrete piles. Not sure as to all the effort in digging the place up.

Wish I could be there to lend a hand.

EVERY little detail on these structures has to be fully engineered as they are public buildings. The days of bringing in a skid shack on blocks are over in these parts and EVERYTHING is much more detailed and difficult. But she will withstand a hurricane!

Haha, yes. the loads require "sails" so they fly straight.

I thought you were just killing 2 birds with 1 stone and starting the stockpile of firewood for the wood heater!

It's probably good that you aren't helping. By the sounds of it, thin osb, untreated 2x4's and a crooked tarp structure seem like something you would build. Ahahahaha

Totally uncalled for. You have absolutely no knowledge of my building skills. I built my own garage. 2x6 studs 16" on center engineered beams over the doors (Load bearing walls). Engineered trusses 16" on center. Inspectors said I went over kill. I told him I went Old school. I asked a simple question because I didn't know why they would dig so much when to me it seams that augering in piles would have been easier. I was wrong. Asking questions is how we learn. You would do wise to do the same.

Maybe opt for the extra "sense of humor" permit next time you build something. It's a good foundation to start with.

I didn’t think you could build anything without beer?

Shelter looks great! I might have to rent some sleds and try it out!
